well, i was using http://www.j-talk.com/nihongo/search/ admittedly and it said that "chotto" as that kanji was the one that meant little, so yeah

see, the thing is; i know almost no kanji, I know a lot of WORDS and I know all hiragana and katakana, but when you get into kanji i get jewed. SO i basically have no idea what any of that's saying, thanks to the kanji in it.

ahh sorry! I remember the days before kanji. Your kanji is right for chotto, just it's hardly ever used. I'll repeat my response with spaces and without kanji

ひらがな　で　一寸　は　いっすん　だよ。　いっすん　は　いち　すん　と　いう　こうてい　（３．０３　ｃｍぐらい）

ちょっと　へんな　なか　と　おもう。　なん　ねんぐらい　にほんご　を　べんきょう　してる？

（あ　ちょっと　まちがった。いま、　これ　は　せいかい）

if you are really interested in japanese, I suggest you check out NJstar Japanese word processor, it has the most amazing cursor-over popup dictionary I've ever seen. Granted it won't help with grammar structures, but it will usually get more formal conjugations and such
