It sounds like Indiana has really come around regarding daylight saving time. Everyone I've talked to appears to have embraced the change.

I had to wait an extra hour to watch football on Sunday I was fucking livid!

But waking when the sun was creeping up was pretty cool!

Chad and I have been anxiously awaiting the Ho rant on DST.

What do you not like about it?

I've been through this many, many times already.

I won't rant, but I'll give you my bullet gripes.
  • Daylight varies by more than an hour over the course of a year
  • Unlike DST, daylight does not vary all at once (or twice, as the case may be)
  • Daylight is going to do whatever it does regardless of what number we assign to it
  • DST does not actually save energy and some studies show it may actually cost more
  • Indiana is pretty much in the wrong time zone to begin with
  • I hate resetting clocks
Summary:
It is a waste of time.

I'll admit, this is one of those things that is a complete non-issue to me but, I do enjoy having more daylight during the morning hours of my commute which from what I can tell is the real purpose of DST among all the other bullshit proponents of DST spew that may or may not be true. I agree that it's ultimately a waste of time but I do so many things in my life that are a waste of time that I've become complacent.

Remember when we were on Indiana time? I remember being really pissed off when I was a kid because all my TV shows jumped up an hour and I couldn't watch Tiny Toons Adventures after school during DST since it came on right before school was let out instead of right after. Kids today have the joys of DVRs and God damn it I really could have used that when I was a kid. I wouldn't have had to set my alarm balls early on Saturdays so I could get up and watch Sonic The Hedgehog cartoons when I should be sleeping after a long night of playing whatever video game I rented from Blockbuster that weekend.

Life was so simple back then. Now I got to worry about where I'm going to stick my penis and where I'm going to spend my money.

I agree that Indiana doing something different than 46 other states (Alaska doesn't do DST because their daylight varies wildly being near the pole, Hawaii doesn't because their daylight doesn't vary that much being near the equator, and Arizona is still like Indiana used to be--an outlier in the continental 48) was stupid, but I would have much preferred that we abolished it nationwide.

My day-to-day schedule is generally not determined by where the daylight falls within it, and I find the abrupt change when we "spring forward" and "fall back" to be much more jarring than the one or two minute per day change that occurs naturally.

I remember one year in Bloomington everyone was crazy hype because the bars were open an extra hour. An extra hour of getting sloppy is a good hour.
