Re: Let's Troll
I'm gonna be a lame-o and not bet. I don't really have a strong enough idea of prices to be willing to bet a large sum of money.
EDIT: Ya know what, why not? I'll bet the opposite of whatever Brian takes.

Re: Let's Troll
Well? What were the prices?
Re: Let's Troll
Costco Prime/Choice per pound
Filet Mignon $23.99/$14.89
New York Strip $17.99/$9.19
Ribeye $16.99/$9.99
Sirloin $9.99/$7.79
Looks like I win all 4. I was pretty confident on the strip and ribeye, but I was less sure on the filet and sirloin. But Costco is way cheap. I think their Prime prices are about what you'd pay for Choice at Marsh or Kroger. But damn are their steaks good!

Re: Let's Troll
Woah hang on, we bet $4? Shit, I didn't realize that. I thought we were betting $1 on the lot (who was the most correct.) Godamnit.
Re: Let's Troll
The original idea was $4 to guess both Prime and Choice. Since we didn't do that, I'm fine with $1 for the whole lot. I will use the $1 as a down payment on my next steak.

Re: Let's Troll
But back to Chad's original post - I'm going to agree with Chad on this one. I feel like I could buy a really great cut of steak for $20 and grill it to my liking and save a shit load of money. There's no way a cut of cooked steak is worth $60 and the markup on their food is akin to the diamond industry.
It will taste better at a steakhouse, their grills are very well seasoned and they get the best cuts you can't find at groceries, but it's not worth the markup.

Re: Let's Troll
I agree that this is not a value proposition. A good steakhouse is likely to do a better job than any of us will...but probably not a 300% better job. However, I do place some value on the experience of going to such a place--usually to celebrate a special occasion with someone I care about. And I think that was at least part of Brandon's point.
