Well, I managed a 7.1 million score last night --- but only by playing 'SOM2' 4 times in a row, which feels like cheating. I wouldn't have even done that, but it's got really fun steps...

No, it's 'Pray'...
This shows how much I know --- I thought SOM2 was the name of the song

To get my score much higher than that though I'll have to find a higher scoring song I can pass; I got that one down to less than ten non-perfect steps, so the score for that song can't really go much higher...

you could always try "Join The Party" CZ. it's a really high scoring crazy song. if you do it fag style (sitting on center panel), it's a cakewalk.

but then you don't get the nightmare bonus, which is like double score, and the only real way to get >7M anyway...

The majority of the top scores on the Internet Ranking site are Dignity NM four times in a row. I've started referring to playing the same song four times to score high as "score whoring." Although if you can play a 22 four times in a row, I really have no room to argue with your methods. :P

Personally, I don't really like playing the same song over and over again and have resisted attempting to do so to inflate my score. However, I do have a set of four songs I've identified as my current highest scorers (all NM): Eternity, As I Told You, Valenti, and Pray.

Songs with lots of freeze arrows seem to score really well since Pump combos freezes like a series of steps. That's why Eternity scores really well for me even though I'm really not that good at it yet. As I Told You also has a lot of freeze scoring. Pray does, too, but its overall step density is lower, so I think it's harder to score really high on it unless you just outright full combo it. Valenti doesn't really freeze much, but it has almost continuous eighth note steps throughout several parts that have a similar effect. I recommend it as a song that's just flat out fun after you get the hang of it--think Make Your Move Maniac Double...only fast. :)

Good luck, Jim!

if you can A Dignity four times in a row, you sir are a phenomenon (sp?). give solitary 2 NM, canon d NM, hi bi NM, and dignity NM a try. there's a set of high scoring songs. you will need the code for solitary 2 and canon d NM (it's the same code if you locked out a song: DL, UR, C, DL, UL, C, DR, C)

So far, I've successfully passed (A or better) 7 Nightmare songs. Numbers after each song are number of less-than-perfect steps.

Pray - 6
U - 15
Xi Bom Bom - 22
One Love - 26
Love Song - 43
As I Told U - 51
Come Back To Me - 67

There's a few more I'm very close to passing; more to come...

Hey, let me know when you guys are going to play some evening, preferably a tuesday or friday. I'll see about coming down and enjoying some pump action with the Bloomington people!

It tends to be pretty random when people go, but I have every intention of playing a bit this Friday.

Well, not this Friday :) I have a business engagement in Indy (where I will also play Pump).

If you guys can give me at least a days notice or so, I can try to come on down some time. Realize that I'm coming from Terre Haute, so if you say you'll be there, make sure people can actually be there (since it's a huge drive).

What's Going On - Nightmare - 1 great

This is my first Nightmare-level S score; definitely an easier Nightmare song than anything on Exceed 2.
