What Tilt really needs is DJMAX Technika 2, connected to the internet of course. It would print money for a long time, since the next closest machine is in New Jersey/NYC. (After that, it's Houston, Texas.)

DDR any version and ITG2 any hacked way would never compete.

I actually agree with this. Although, you could try to put a computer in the USA machine and run OpenITG too.

So I guess don't get X2, because X3's coming.

Now would probably be a good time to contact Konami about an X3 location test, the next location test will probably start in November/December sometime. May be hard to get past the higher-ups though.

Also, triple post. Come on, people, post! Has everyone moved on to Pro 2?

I've given up on DDR. DDRX is trash, DDRX2 is different trash, and knowing Betson they'll produce yet another new flavor of trash IF the US gets DDRX3. Coupled with the fact that DDRX2 doesn't actually exist in Asia (only in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Macau), and the fact I'll never get to go to Japan... best to give it up now.

Pump It Up, on the other hand, has a future in China, and due to various reasons is more enjoyable than DDR will ever be in the states without e-Amusement and working machines. (even though the machines in the US are shit compared to China)

X2 is designed really well except for the sensors (but some machines, like Round1's, have crosswiring issues). Yeah, it doesn't beat the original stage design, but it's close enough. Arcades that care should get PIU sensors.

We don't know if it's the sensors or the stage itself that is designed poorly. There are already prototype sensors in Chicago and Industry now so we'll know in a couple more weeks which it is.

If you're talking purely about feel of the stage, I actually prefer X2 Betson's pads to the old pads. But that doesn't mean anything if the game isn't playable.

(i'm the only person in the world who put up with that crosswired shit for 3.5 months while still churning out PFC's so I think I have a pretty good perspective on this whole thing.)

Kon wrote:I just got back from Gameworks Schaumburg. Wow the new "prototype" sensors are already starting to act funky. One sensor would hold the arrow and unjam on every step. And on the other side the left arrow is triggered by pressing pretty much any of the other arrows. This was pretty much the same thing that happened at first when we got this machine so the new sensors have done nothing to improve gameplay sadly. I'll keep everyone updated on how it is next week.

Who knows with Betson, it could be the sensors. Arcades should test PIU sensors, that's the only way we'll know if it's the pads or the sensors.

Mixed news on DDRX2:
Gameworks (Chicago) reports their machine is already unplayable.
Round1 reports their machine is quite nice.

What does it mean? your guess is as good as mine but I'll stay over on pump while the pads are better over here

Is the SN2 still in good condition?

It could possibly be the panels and not the sensors for X2 dedis btw
ZIv Chat wrote:22:26:19 · Daiz: and truly, honestly, we looked at our cab and the right arrow on P1 was sticking, he tested each sensor and they work just fine
22:26:33 · Daiz: but he had a really hard time getting the panel out
22:26:46 · Daiz: I believe the panels have too tight of a fit
22:27:43 · Daiz: but my opinion comes from having played on 4th+, Max2, Extreme machines, SNs, SN2s, X and X2, dedicabs, upgrades, everything under the sun
22:27:51 · Daiz: I've seen bad pads
22:28:20 · Daiz: in my opinion, X2 fixed most of X's problems
22:28:36 · Daiz: I think the panels are seriously just too tight
22:28:56 · Daiz: I dunno, the tech here did just that
22:29:05 · Daiz: he took the screws out and the brackets out
22:29:11 · Daiz: pad would still stick
22:29:26 · Daiz: but I noticed that the panel flexed much less when the pad was sticking
22:30:23 · Daiz: and that's the thing, I really don't think the sensors are the problems
22:30:42 · Daiz: when _I_ played on the left side
22:30:46 · Daiz: I did awesome
22:30:49 · Daiz: no pad misses
22:31:02 · Daiz: when a heavier player got n the machine it would stick
This would explain why the sensors would be "going out" quickly, even with redesigned sensors.

Hey guys, just thought you may want to know, TILT has sold their USA and Beatmania 5 machines.
They still have the DDR X and SN2 machines.
The DDR X machine is MAX unlocked with Edits enabled and working.

Would you be willing to list those prices online as well?

Oh trust me, we know, we've talked about it in length in this very thread!
