Round 1 Glenbrook Square (Fort Wayne) - Future Location

Post by Diamondback1996 » Sat Jul 13, 2019 3:05 am

Round 1 finally announced an Indiana location. However, for me it's the same distance to this one as to Louisville and the future Dayton location. :?

Holy shit why would they pick Fort Wayne over Indy? lmao

I love how Fort Wayne has always had better arcades for DDR even way back in the day.

Well, there's only two reasonable malls with available space. However, both would be too close to a D&B. Castleton could work, but the Greenwood D&B is taking over space in the mall. And Boss Battle Games probably wouldn't be too happy about another arcade moving into the same mall they just moved to.

Washington Square won't happen.
I'm surprised Lafayette Square is still open.
Fashion Mall has no anchor space. A new building would be necessary, but they won't take away parking.
Circle Centre could theoretically work, but Round1 clearly wants suburban malls, and downtown residents would prefer a Target.
Everywhere else isn't an enclosed mall, which is what Round1 wants. Of those, Perry Crossing is the only one that's structured similarly to an enclosed mall. It also has no anchor space but half of the site is undeveloped, so I would say it's not out of the question.

I recall that at one time one of their requirements was that they needed some percentage of Asians in the area and there is absolutely no way Fort Wayne fulfills that criteria so I'm guessing that's no longer a thing for them.

In any case I'm excited to go to Round 1 when I'm back up in the Fort! Booze, bowling, Beatmania!

I'm more excited for a DDR newer than X2 in Indiana. SN2 if you only count the playable ones.

I would say Indy has a much higher percentage of Asians than Fort Wayne lol.

Way more! Wayyyyyyyyy more! I really hope you guys enjoy driving up 69 when this place opens - bring some podcasts! Check out the Putt-Putt Golf & Games that's across the street from Glenbrook that's the place where the Fort Wayne DDR scene started 19 years ago! I get a little sad every time I walk into that place, it's nothing but redemption games now, but hey they still have that Sega 18-wheeler game that was new when they got their DDR 4th mix cab.

Grab some Coney Island when you're up there or some Powers Hamburgers but bring a change of clothes because you're gonna get some burger funk on you and it will not come out without a laundry cycle.

The Louisville location is the same distance to me, but that requires going to Kentucky.
