I think you are overreacting =P So it takes a few hours to get link timing down, but not every character depends on "1-frame links" and you don't even have to really be that knowledgeable about that stuff if you want to be okay. Both this and 3rd Strike are fun games to play, and 3rd Strike was basically the same thing timing-wise with parries. That game is all about bullshit 1-frame parry timing rhythm gaming blahblahblahblah.

Anyways I'm much more interested in reading a post by Chad raging about why he quit Facebook.

Riot I love how you put 1-frame links in quotes as if to say I'm crazy and that I'm making shit up when I say that 1-frame links exist. I love you.

And hooooooly shit parries are anything but 1-frame inputs. In fact, the parry window is pretty large in 3rd strike. I think it's something like 3 frames or 1/20 of a second or 50 milliseconds, however you want to put it. That's about the equivalent of a Great! in DDR.

For the curious, a 1-frame link requires about a 16.666... millisecond window to input your little command. That's more strict than a flashing great in Beatmania which I think is about 25 milliseconds. I'm not sure how plinking affects the window, it's still extremely strict regardless.

Math vs English go!

Plinking should give you one extra frame. If you were one frame too fast on first button press, link still comes out. If you can't get links down, learn good frame traps for your character. If your move will stuff a lp/lk, you can counter hit for big damage.

I just want a break from the constant blah blah blah all the time. Facebook is too noisy. My goal is to go six months, then evaluate if I still really need it.

Gouken is top tier fyi and totally unbalanced. I just checked the tier list and he is 8-2 against Ryu. That's nuts.

Please cite the tier list you're looking at, friend.

By the way Chad I totally was going to create an event for our casino trip this Friday for the sake of calendaring but you have indeed gone off the Facebook.

Here is what Facebook is good at:

1) Calendaring and coordinating events with your actual real friends that you regularly do shit with.
2) Ruining lives

Is it necessary? Absolutely not. Is it handy? Kind of, but only because literally everyone worth doing shit with is on Facebook by now. If anything more convenient comes along then people will jump on it in a heartbeat.

Yeah, I guess.

I don't know, I think it's healthy to be serious about something stupid that really doesn't matter. Everyone needs a hobby! Somedays I wish music games hadn't died out and I had the time to obsess over them like I used to.

Fluffyumpkins murder face. All I'm saying is that link timing is just something you gotta get the feel for and I don't think that having relatively strict timing makes it bad. Hell if that's how timing was in third strike people would just be like omg this game actually takes timing and skill its not casual like sf4. There are plenty of other factors to being good at the game rather than link timing and I just think a lot of people are too quick to blindly bash the game.

I was typing on my phone, maybe I wasn't as clear as I could have been. I'm saying that if the timing was stricter in 3S like it is SSF4, people would be praising it for "taking skill" and how it would be a sign that it is a "hardcore" fighting game. People think SSF4 is casual (which I think is incorrect), but it really is pretty tough to get good at. My point was that if 3S had tighter timings and SSF4 was looser, Merk would probably be saying how much better 3S is because it takes better timing and skill, and therefore is a better overall game.

Both games take equally as much skill imo, just in different categories maybe. I would just be rehashing the same arguments over and over, but I think that the vets who prefer 3S prefer it because they learned with that game or devoted a lot of time and practice into that, and it's natural to just hate the next game in the series because it is slightly different and then they are not as good as they once were. It literally happens with everything in life, not just games. Chad got mad that the Transformers movie was not what he expected based off the Transformers cartoons he grew up with, and the kids nowadays will be mad when Transformers:The Next Generation is not like the latest Transformers movies.

1. Did you get a smartphone bro?

2. Saying what might have happened but didn't feels like a straw man argument. Maybe not straw man, but definitely speculative.

3. Transformers was seriously total garbage. Even if there were no ‘old’ Transformers, these new movies are crap. Same is true for a lot of high budget action movies, and even more so for Michael Bay’s motion picture diarrhea.

4. A better example might be old school Riot. He was in-shape and witty. A real lady killer. He was really good at DDR, CS, and just about every console game. Now look at him. He’s married, works for a school that trains students to be shitty at marching band for if/when they do get to high school, and he pisses me off on message boards for dragging a great show through the dirt just to prove a point. Now some new Michael Bay-Chad will come in and steal all the ladies from old Chad and I’ll never fall in love. I hope you’re happy.

I agree with all of this post except that I actually am still pretty darn good at CS:S.

And yes I did get a Droid 2.
