I'm getting an XBox for my birthday. What games should I buy?

I HATE FPS games; old-school and 2d games (and music games obviously) are what I prefer....

That one game that is like Metroid but based on an Orson Scott Card story or something. I can't remember the title.

Rock Band 3 for your music game needs.

Shadow Complex, and yes I liked that game. It's a Metroid-vania if you like that kind of platform adventure.

I would check out the Indie channel for stuff like Groov and I MAED A GAEM WITH ZOMBIES IN IT like Ho mentioned. You might wanna check out Limbo if you like atmospheric platformers. Some others I hear good things about are Chime, 'Splosion Man, Megaman 9 and 10, Castle Crashers, Trials HD, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Puzzle Fighter, and lots others.

I would go to Gamespot, sort these reviews in different topics (rhythm games, puzzle, adventure, etc.) and in either Xbox Live Arcade or regular 360 and just see what games score the highest and see if they might interest you based on the descriptions. The best thing about XBL is that nearly everything has a downloadable trial to test out the game before you buy it.

For instance: http://www.gamespot.com/reviews.html?ty ... ficial=all

If you like platforming games, Super Meat Boy just came out and is apparently pretty fun and difficult.

Seconding this. Some guys in my dorm have been playing it all week. For $10 it's got quite a lot of content too.

Ho/Chad will probably be interested in this if you don't already have it.

The original Championship Edition was one of the games that convinced me to get a 360. Thanks for the tip. I'll be sure to pick up the DX.

Looks like Super Meat Boy has super hard challenge levels as an homage to I Wanna Be The Guy. From everything I hear, Super Meat Boy is pretty awesome, might pick it up when I wanna play a platformer and rage.
