Um, I find that tier list to be unacceptable and nothing personal man but your posts as of late have been lacking so I'm going to have to put you on my ignore list. That's Merk after college right? Where does Merk rank in his college years?

What can we tier list into a Merk Tier, a Fluffy Tier, and a Riot Tier?
And for that matter, how would you tier those tiers?

No no no you see you can't tier a tier. A tier is essentially a group and a tier list is an amalgam of groups ranked in an order of strength or preference - a tier is a tierlist's smallest unit of measurement and therefore cannot be further divided. Obviously it's all very subjective and arbitrary, so you can group things into a "Meh tier" or "Ghey tier."

Merk, Fluffy, and Riot are unfortunately not describers of strength or preference and therefore could not be used. However, if you have people that are very "Merk-like" or "Riot-like" then I suppose you could group those people in to a "Merk tier." Again, this is all arbitrary and your definition of what is Merk-like is entirely your own. How a Merk, Fluffy, and Riot tier would even compare to each other is anyone's guess.

Basically, don't just stand there go berzerk.

I guess I didn't mean to tier the tiers...but to rank the tiers. Like if you were going to have Merk, Fluffy, and Riot tiers, what would being in each one mean in relation to the others...like top tier, mid tier, low tier or something else?

I don't know if each of us are different enough to warrant entirely separate tiers. BUT given your hypothetical it all depends on which you prefer.

Do you like smartassery, youtubes, and taciturnity? It'd prolly go:

Fluffy
Riot
Merk

Do you like wit, attention, gregariousness, and thought provocation? It'd prolly go:

Merk
Riot
Fluffy

Do you prefer video game talk, .gifs, and being openly opinionated? That would be:

Riot
Merk
Fluffy

For me, it's an impossible scenario to rank. Fluffy, Riot, and Merk all have their pros and cons such as:

Merk:

Pro
- Above average vocabulary
- Consistent poster
- Is happy to discuss any topic; likes to post in a lot of threads

Con
- Fat
- Stream of consciousness posting
- Post quality is very hit or miss

Riot:

Pro
- Has a great cache of .gifs
- Can generally defend his opinion
- Is capable of writing a thoughtful post

Con
- Is literally a giant baby
- Questionable opinions; argumentative
- Sporadic poster; doesn't really post in topics that are not of his interest

Fluffy:

Pro
- Can throw out a decent one-liner
- Consistently shares music
- Can weasel his way out of a tight situation with a GIS

Con
- Member of the Illuminati (he is the third Jew banker)
- Low content posts
- Poor thread starter

Again, friend, it's all up to you. To quote Scott Brown -- "Don't just stand there... Go berzerk"

I like Merk's long post up there. I would rate it as one of his finest... probably even Riot Tier. Merk I enjoy when you elaborate in length the social observations and tiny little details that most people sarcastically rattle off without thinking.

I lol'd at "Is literally a giant baby." A+ work.

I question "questionable opinions; argumentative" and would like to argue.

I don't know, I think triplets are pretty cool when they're done right. Sweet World or whatever that song is on ITG with the plinking 64th note jumps is fucking garbage, but We Know We Do or whatever that song is called did a pretty good job with triplets. That one part in Anubis is pretty cool with the 12th note and 16th note syncopation. That's real drumline rhythm shit that I love.

Hands are kinda ghey though. They sorta kinda work in Pump It Up but it's just awkward in ITG. I think there's really no way for hands to be tastefully done in a way that isn't gimmicky. I haven't played ITG in years though so I'm sure there's a chart out there that doesn't make hands a chore.

Anyway...

swap out 5th and 4th+ and bump Supernova 2 to A tier then you'd pretty much have my list

Yeah I'm kind of on the fence with 4th+ and 5th. 5th gets the top tier billing IMO because it had so much shit that wasn't in any other mix. It had the long songs and it brought a significant number of good licenses and Konami originals (Radical Faith) that only appeared on that mix plus it had a great compilation of 1st-4th revivals. Plus it has the added bonus of introducing the interface that is standard in literally all 4-panel dancing games.

4th+ is great because of just the sheer number of songs it had. If I remember correctly, only like 5 or so shitty songs from 1st to 3rd didn't make it on this mix (Money, So Many Men, Strictly Business, and some others) and I think this game had the most songs on it until Extreme came out. While the grading system was bad, the interface was a nice experiment, and the fact that it didn't bring a whole lot of "newness" to the series other than more songs I still feel that this is the definitive mix for "classic" DDR and its songs. Whatever that means.

I've never played Solo or Supernova2 so I'm guessing on how good they'd be. Chad is under the impression that Supernova2 is leaps and bounds above Extreme but something tells me that's just Chad hyperbole.
