Re: ummmmm Diablo III anyone???
I've been thinking about my experiences with Borderlands 2 and Diablo 3 and why one felt combative and the other was structured around teamwork. Bottom line: No auction house. With a player controlled, and real money driven, economy there was a constant sense of needing to farm harder and faster. The winner was the person with the most wealth. Since Borderlands has no such system, it doesn't matter how much gold you have or how good your gear is. Beating the game can be done using standard gear progression. Trading is fine if you want to use it, or fine if you don't. Having the top .01% of gear isn't required.
Blizzard wants money.
Gearbox wants players to have fun.
What do you guys think?

That's pretty much in line with my thinking. You can essentially just open the .ini text file, change Golden Key=1 to Golden Key=255 and get unlimited golden keys to chest farm nonstop until you get decked out in crazy oranges and purples. If this was Blizzard they would bring the game down, punish the players, ban accounts, and try to retroactively change peoples' inventories. Gearbox is probably like, "eh, if that's how people wanna have fun, have at it." If I do that, I know as a player I will remove the fun of the game by making it too easy, but at least I can also have fun later on when I'm getting bored by farming the chest in Sanctuary over and over.
Plus, Borderlands 2's dialogue and quest writing is some of the absolute funniest stuff I've ever seen. Maybe it's because I'm an immature babby, but half of these quests are really funny. I like Scooter's poem he writes for Daisy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W6F87TmShB0 And Tiny Tina is the funniest NPC I've ever seen in a game.

The writing is really good in this game. I have lol'd on many occasions. Tiny Tina, Ellie, Claptrap, and Dr. Zed were very well written. There have been a few eye-rollers, but overall very good.

Merk: You said Blizzard agreed the RMAH was a mistake. Can you provide a source?

Obligatory "people still play Diablo 3?" comment. Since there's no item sink, I'd figure everyone would be equipped with top tier loot at this point.
Off topic: I'm thinking of taking my blizz money and buying some WoW TCG boosters and putting them up on eBay. Can anyone think of a better way to convert blizz cash to real cash?

lol'd so hard. Diablo 3 is such a fucking train wreck.
I can honestly understand why though. Nothing will ever make more money for Blizzard than WoW so it makes sense that time and resources are spent on keeping WoW fresh while shit like D3 - which makes them probably negative monies at this point - has only had one patch that added content or made any significant changes to the game in more than half a year.

Merk. Would you like to make a few bucks for free? All I need you to do is put something up on RMAH, I buy for all my bliz $, you convert to paypal, you give me total minus $2 for helping.

The 1.07 patch seems like a pretty good step in the right direction! http://us.battle.net/d3/en/blog/8414560/
And RIP Jay Wilson... may you go on to screw up another franchise! http://massively.joystiq.com/2013/01/17 ... -director/

Playing this right now. It's pretty fun so far, very D2-esque. The passive skill tree is like FFX sphere grid and everything is super customizable. It's technically open beta, but there won't be any character wipes anymore.
OH YEAH IT'S FREE TOO
Re: ummmmm Diablo III anyone???
so I'm pretty addicted to this game

D3 looking much better. The PC version already sort of ruined the game for me, which is too bad. I've already seen all the skills, beaten all the bosses, and found all the loot I'm interested in finding. Doing it all again just doesn't interest me. Maybe when the expansion comes out...
