There's quite a bit of difference between a Korean Percussion Freaks cabinet and a Japanese Drummania cabinet. Build plan, materials, wiring, etc. are all different. Just about the only things totally the same are the "drum rack", pedal assembly, and 573 and amp "crates", as those were provided by Konami from Japan. The materials used are generally cheaper (e.g. 1/2" MDF instead of 3/4" plywood), and the construction usually "quicker", such as the wiring which is based off things like power strips and standard wall plugs, rather than custom wiring assemblies. They tend to work fine, if well maintained, though.

There's less (actually fairly little) difference between a Hong Kong Percussion Freaks and a Japanese Drummania, mostly some wiring and connectors as well as some trim pieces. Mechanically, they're almost identical. Note that the Hong Kong ones are rather rare.

I should know, I've had all 3 styles at one point or another :)
A normality test:
+++ATH
If you are no longer connected to the internet, you need to apply more wax to your modem: it'll make it go faster.
If you find this funny, you're a nerd.
If neither of the above apply, you are normal. Congratulations.

I think Merk is learning the first two rules of arcade purchasing:

1) research
2) patience

The listed order is not necessarily priority.

I couldn't grow a beard like that with all the patience in the world.

Briaaaan, God dammit, if you told me what price you were fetching for your DM cabinet I would have waited for you in a heartbeat. I have no idea what the going price is for these types of games so I figured $1,250 + $560 for shipping was a stellar deal for a game that's not exactly common and on a mix that isn't exactly too old for someone like me who rarely ever gets to play the game and pretty much everything is totally new to me. I mean really, how many DM cabinets are there in the US that don't belong to private collectors? I'd say no more than 20 with more than half of them in Hawaii / California.

In my mind I guesstimated that you'd ask $1,750 + shipping for your cabinet and I say this because I'm completely ignorant as to how much you paid for the game yourself and what the going price for any arcade cabinet is.

I'm crossing my fingers hoping that there is nothing catastrophically wrong with this cabinet when it gets dropped off at Chad's. It's getting shipped out tomorrow / Thursday and I can't imagine it not being here before Thanksgiving.

If you wanted to know, all you had to do was ask, man. Shipping wouldn't have been a big issue. Since we live in the same town, worst case you'd go rent a U-Haul for ~$40.

Yes, I absolutely do, for the sake of morbid curiosity because really at this point the number doesn't matter since the trigger has been pulled. Really, any number you give me could be a total troll or the truth and I wouldn't know the difference. But hey, on the bright side we have another Drummania machine in Indiana in our little fold of arcade game collectors! Chad or lol Dave101 I'm sure would be willing to buy your cabinet if you're looking for a buyer.

And Riot that was an awesome post by the way. I turned in to a fat Asian.

You could flip the cabinet, then buy Brian's. I'm full on Arcades for now.
