Despite having four day weekends every week, I am much too busy with my social life to actually get around to fixing this sensor. Would anyone like to come to Da Butt Hut and solder in a new sensor for me? As stated in the OP, Chad's DDR machine needs a dremmel to get some stripped screws off his arrows, if anyone could provide that as well that would be great.

I will pay handsomely within reason, name your price.

I guess if you are just unbelievably desperate you can unmount your entire cymbal and mail it to me and Ill mail it back.

To be honest I still haven't unscrewed the cymbal enough to expose the sensor so I'm not sure what the exact issue is. I go to Bloomington on my days off and my free time during the days I work is limited to just chatting with Chad and playing DDR. I know it doesn't take more than a minute or two to get this shit taken apart but I'm lazy. In any case I'm *probably* going to have to re-solder the sensor or replace it entirely and I'm going to need a soldering iron from Potter/Brandon/Someone

I've never soldered anything before I am probably going to kill myself.

Ill be very impressed if you somehow manage to kill yourself. Just wear saftey glasses in case you cause the solder to fly.

Welp, figured out the problem, the red wire on the sensor came detached. I hot-glued it back onto the sensor and that momentarily resolved the problem until it came detached again. It looks like I'll have to solder it back on so I'm having Chad pick me up a soldering iron from Frys.

I also got a dremel but I have no idea what to do with it ahhhhHHhhhhh I'm retarded. WHY AM I RETARDED?!?!?!?

So my cymbal is sort of fucked up on my machine and maybe you guys can help.

The cymbal works however if I have to do any sort of fast rhythm on the cymbal I drop pretty much every note unless I very lightly tap it which is nearly impossible at certain BPMs. I *think* it may be an issue with the sensor being too loosely taped to the little plate that it's supposed to be taped to. If I hit the cymbal with a good amount of force I get a double-hit on it which is really annoying when I'm trying to go through the options menu.

Songs with slow cymbal patterns are doable but shit like the end of TL1000S and Children's Sketchbook are pretty much impossible to pass unless I have a lot of life left by the end.

Thoughts? Could it be a soldering issue?

The plastic is vibrating on the frame.

First get some carpet pad and cut it out to the size of the cymbal well and then stuff it in there. See if that doesnt fix your problem right away.

Would a piece of cardboard suffice?

This brings me back to the IIDX JKOC days.

It's far more important that the sensor is firmly and completely attached (i.e. glued) to the plastic backing piece. Just taping it on won't be very effective. You need good transfer of energy to the sensor for it to trigger.

no cardboard wouldnt work. It needs to be stuffed with something soft yet firm to absorb the vibration.

and hotglue your sensor to the middle of your plastic cymbal piece. Tape wont suffice.

How much glue should I be putting on the sensor to get it to stick to the little plastic piece of the cymbal? I feel like if I put on too much then the sensor won't be able to vibrate enough to trigger.
