WTB: Control box

Post by jaybay » Fri Sep 21, 2012 2:41 pm

I was looking for a control box for the cobalt flux and adapters if I need those.
Yeah I'm even willing to pay a finders fee lOL
Trying to play stepmania but my mat came with nothing but the 15 pin female sticking out of it.

Thanks for reading!

I used to rock a setup like that. I can suggest a good PS2 to USB adapter. Trio Linker Plus. Don't be fooled by the Trio Linker Plus II since it doesn't have the multi-axis function. You can hunt around for a place to buy it, but this is what it looks like.

If you currently have a Cobalt Flux without a control box, you might be in a bad situation. If you haven't already, post on bemanistyle.com. You can always make one from scratch, but it takes a little bit of know-how.

Yeah I'll be looking for Trio Linker Plus. I would build a control box myself but I honestly have no clue what I'm doing and looking to just buy one cause I'm lazy.
While I don't have a control box do you think these would work?

I posted on bemanistyle.com awhile ago but haven't gotten lucky there yet. :(

I don't have any experience with those, but they aren't too expensive so it might be worth the risk.

Amp: Any thoughts? You have a few CF pads if I recall.

The recent demise of Cobalt Flux is indeed a very unfortunate development and I am in a similar position. Using Ebay and used sites may be the only chance of finding them. However, it is more than possible to make a control box as seen on http://www.pnwbemani.net/bemani-discuss ... ntrol-box/ so you aren't completely screwed.

True, I'd just have to hang out with a guy I don't like and ask really nicely to use his tools..ehhh
Luckily the lady who gave me these fluxes found the control boxes with them so now I'm looking for an appropriate PS2 to USB adapter like Fluffy is helping me with but unfortunately I can't find Trio Linker Plus anywhere. I fear the multi-axis function is dreadfully important so I don't want to run off buying anything. Any suggestions again? If It helps I do have Win XP.

Amp if both control boxes work then I can ship one off to you if you still need one. :D
ps. is your avatar real? I mean if so...holy shit

Normal games wouldn't ever have someone press left and right on the control stick at the same time. DDR requires that you can do that. Trio Linker Plus just happened to be what I'd used.

What really sucks is that some adapters say they work with dance pads, but actually don't! I had to go through two or three before I found one that worked. The folks at Stepmania did some research.

Hope that helps. I've still yet to find a site that sells the old Trio Linker Plus.

Update: I found a Super Job Box here http://www.racketboy.com/store/ps1-ps2- ... 3-pro.html but it seems as though I bought the last one there. It came in a few days ago and started working from the get go. Plug and play. It recognizes jumps perfectly and the lag is virtually nonexistent. I was missing alot when I had to hit the down arrow but I think there's a problem with my pad not the adapter.

Some CF screws are too tight. See if maybe loosening them helps.
