I really wanted it to be PENDUEL so it could be an epic writing battle--mightier than the sword and all that. Maybe it would be a crossover with Da!Da!Da! or something.
I made tricoro work for my birthday on a random PC I borrowed from the office. It was just a run-of-the-mill Dell from about 3 years ago--nothing special. I've since returned that machine though. Actually, it has become my machine at work to replace the 5 year old one I had been using. I haven't taken the time to get IIDX running on anything else, but it wasn't that terribly difficult following the instructions on sows.
I did have issues with the HD on my monitor though. It just doesn't seem to work for some reason even though that monitor should be capable (it's 720p). I believe whatever HD resolution the game is trying to run in is something that my monitor doesn't like because the screen just goes black when the game switches the video mode and never recovers.
The best I was able to set the desktop to a HD resolution that worked and then run the game in windowed mode with a window that covered the whole screen (so it looked fullscreen). This worked, but the game ran like crap. I was able to get it running in HD correctly on a different monitor, so it did seem to be an issue with my monitor rather than the game or the PC.
If I ever decide to try and get it running again I might play around with it to see if I can get HD on my monitor, but the game seemed just fine in regular 480p. Unless I can find a software fix to make it play in a res compatible with my monitor, I think I'd just resign myself to SD play. For as little as I--or anyone else--plays my IIDX machine, I really can't justify going through the hassle and expense of buying a different monitor for it while the one I have still works.
