Forum technical issues

Post by Merk » Wed Feb 02, 2005 2:55 pm

I view this forum with Internet Explorer version 6.0.2900.2180 and I have noticed several technical problems with the forums thus far.

First, sometimes when I click on the New Topic or Post Reply icon I get linked back to the IndyDDR.com Forum Index. Additionally, I get randomly redirected to Starware search sometimes when I click on threads.

I thought you'd like to know.

Sounds like spyware (especially the Starware search thing). I'd run ad-aware and Spybot S&D on your system to clean things up. If you still get the Starware search redirections, we can look into that.

I would absolutely agree with the spyware assessment on the latter issue. The former issue could conceivably be something messed up here, but I haven't noticed such a problem after making several posts/replies today.

I have another technical issue to talk about, because I'm way too lazy to start a new thread.

Just looking at the posts on the forum, I see links that lead you to a casino or something. Is there something going wrong with my IE. Aol doesn't put the links in there though... I think there is something wrong with my internet explorer.

Thanks

There are no ads on the boards, so you probably also have some sort of spyware. Run some spyware scans and see if they pick anything up.

Hey, if you're gonna go that, give it to me. I'm poor, and I can always use a new hard drive, and I'm sure I'll give it a better fate than the one you've planned for it.
Signatures sure are awesome.

My dad wants the hard drive non-existant because of hackers getting into my computer and messing with things.

It's mostly the shit my sister downloads.
Music
Games (WTF)
and she downloads stuff she has no clue about

it makes me so mad, so the next computer is mine and no one will mess with it!!!

yay for custom pc stores!

you should get a kaspersky, avgfree, spybot, and adaware. blast all that crap away and then delete whatever you- I mean your sister -is using to download stuff.

And by stuff he of course means pr0n.

If you use XP you pretty much just need to make sure you have SP2 installed, throw some antivirus software on there, then don't download/run/do stupid stuff.

I just noticed when I accidentally clicked the Log out link it didn't log me out. When the boards first came up I had check the option to stay logged in.

Also, Stef noticed that she couldn't get the perma-log option to work for her. Maybe some recent coding changes have screwed up the functionalitly of the option.

Nothing has really changed too recently. The only thing I can think of off the top of my head is that the site and cookies seem to get confused if you use just indyddr.com instead of http://www.indyddr.com. And in fact, I've noticed that trying to use both interchangably causes all sorts of weirdness. Stick to http://www.indydddr.com and things should work well. If you're having troubles, you might want to clear your cache and/or your indyddr.com and http://www.indyddr.com cookies and just start over.

If you're still having troubles after that, I don't know what to tell you. I have the perma-login set on two different computers and it works just fine. I also fairly routinely log out and log in as a test user to check to make sure things are working from a non-admin account. I haven't been having any troubles there either.
