Nope Westside's heyday was definitely not in 2002....
Yeah, I never even new about the place until summer 2003. I started playing there before it became really really popular, then quit once I was no longer able to get turns on the machine, due to overcrowding.

This is m fourth year playing the great DDR. (I Think, maybe 3rd) I started on good ol' max2 at "The Wash". I miss "The Wash" 'twas great! Everybody was so cool there, now DDR is a giant competition. That's why I like Eastside putt putt, no one really goes there, lol!
If I remember correctly, and someone correct me if I'm wrong, Max2 arcade came out sometime in 2002, so I don't think you could have started out on a Max2 four years ago.

Yeah, he (Gakki) started about the same time I did, which was Early November 2002. Was fun times at Washington square.

Yeah, your right rodent.

I used to play at the wash all the time.

The Wash didn't have a Max2 until 2002. It had a 3rd mix Plus.

GaKki, maybe it's more like your third year.

I'm an idiot, it was summer of 2003, not 2002, that westside became popular.

I've been playing about a year and a half, but I kinda sorta lost practice a few months ago...Not many people up here play anymore, so it's not very exciting anymore... :?

I first saw and played DDR back in 1999, I believe, and it was the first mix. It was in Vegas at Circus Circus. I saw this asian guy playing Paranoia on light and he was doing the spins in it, while wearing sun glasses and had one hand in his pocket. I, of course, like everyone else, thought it was the dumbest thing.

I decided to give it a go, and naturally failed because I didnt understand where and when to step.

Then later on, Fort Wayne got 4th mix. I just remember thinking, whoa how'd Indiana find out about this.

So ever since then, I've been an on and off player.

EDIT: Also, Vegas was where I saw my first freestyle. This guy and girl were switching pads, cant remember the song though. That's when I actually thought it'd be fun.

Yo,

Don't feel bad, i started in '99 or '00 when 3rd mix was released, my only SDG is "Let the Beat Hit 'em!". I played it at a friend's for the first time on his Playstation, about a month later i purchased the origional Home Mix when it was released.

I've been playing since January of 2004 when my friend Ian introduced me to the WS group. I haven't really played at all since July because I've been everseas here and THEY DON'T HAVE ONE!!! He actually sent me a soft pad that I used which was nice, so I guess I've played some, but not on the arcades...

I'm okay at it I suppose...

Don't feel bad. He's lying so hardcore. Mex is really good. And the fact that he does it all without shoes on makes him, like, dancer+1 or something like that.

So don't let him fool you. n_n
