OMG, Shoes!
So, it's that time of year again to contemplate getting new shoes for school. On the same foot (no pun intended), I'm looking into getting better shoes for DDR/ITG/PIU. My shoes are in good shape; they're just a little too large, and are curved on the bottom, so often I don't hit a panel (or even on time) because of the curve issue.
I'm not willing to dish out a lot of money for Nike Frees, but what types of shoes might work the best at a decent price? I'm looking to a flat, skateboard shoe type, but maybe an athletic brand?
Any suggestions would help.

It doesn't matter. Get Nike Free's. lol.
I got mine online and customized for $100. You could easily find a 60-80 pair of Nike Free 5.0 or 7.0 at a Shoe store, or maybe Dick's.

I'll use the $20-40 I save to buy a Sharpie and write "Jeff Jeff" on the side.Cbav wrote:I got mine online and customized for $100. You could easily find a 60-80 pair of Nike Free 5.0 or 7.0 at a Shoe store, or maybe Dick's.

Personally if you're looking for an athletic shoe, I've always loved New Balance and Puma.
I really love CS:GO's 64 tick servers.

I have had 4 shoes I used for Pump and DDR and ITG
1: Nike Frees
SUCKED, some seem to have good luck with them, mine quite literally fell appart in no time at all. Waste of 70$........
2: Nike Zoom Air +
found at finish line for like 50$, these are TOTALLY worth the 50$, they held together perfectly, really lightweight and as flexible as Frees and held together A LOT longer.
3: Adidas Racers
Very good shoes, they seems to be a tad narrow and tight though... but are like 40-50$ and worked great for doing 3 jumps on pump. (Used by Jason Dread and Lara)
4: Puma Replicat
The cheapest of my shoes, I got them for 30$ but seem them at 40$, really nice and comfy and really flexible LINKY

I have seen these around, mainly in Journeys stores, but I have considered looking into them. Now that you say they are narrow, it is a bit of a con, because my feet are kinda wide, and I don't want to go through the hassle of custom-ordering wide shoes.lgolem wrote:3: Adidas Racers

I kinda like these colors for some reason: http://www.finishline.com/store/catalog ... oryId=nulllgolem wrote:4: Puma Replicat

...and for $40, they don't sound bad. I'll definitely look into them. Thanks Jeremy.

I have worn New Balance for several years now. I'm currently liking the 601. These are an especially good choice if you have unusually wide feet (and if you do, avoid Nike) since they are readily available at retail in extra wide sizes.
A normality test:

If you are no longer connected to the internet, you need to apply more wax to your modem: it'll make it go faster.
If you find this funny, you're a nerd.
If neither of the above apply, you are normal. Congratulations.

I personally use my tennis shoes (not just "tennis shoes," actual shoes made for playing tennis) when I play DDR/ITG. Right now I have a pair of Adidas Barricade IIs, and they're VERY durable (in fact, their warranty replaces them if you wear through them within a year), and give you great traction on the pads. However, they are a bit heavier than some other shoes, due to the thick durable soles, dunno if that would affect you or not.
EDIT: Also, if you do decide to get Barricades, IVs are the best ones, but also the most expensive. IIIs are a piece of crap, don't buy them. I are too old and not technologically advanced enough (if that exists for a shoe), plus hard to find. IIs are the best choice.
