I'm writing a pursuasive research paper about DDR

Post by letshavetea » Mon Nov 19, 2007 11:47 am

My research paper is basically a paper trying to convince people that DDR can battle obesity and that it should be in public schools.

Anyhow I found a few neat things that I thought I'd share with you guys.

http://www.digitaldanceathon.com/
An organization that will help setup fundraisers to help get DDR into schools.

http://www.cooltechschool.com/index.htm
A website made by gym teachers showing how they incorporated DDR into their school

http://www.webmd.com/fitness-exercise/f ... exergaming
Exercise, Lose Weight With 'Exergaming'

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/04/30/healt ... nd&emc=rss
Typical news report saying DDR wins

http://www.acefitness.org/getfit/studie ... dy2007.pdf
A study done by the University of Wisconsin, Lacrosse testing the benefits of DDR

http://www.getupmove.com/about.asp
Great website dedicated to the direct weight loss from exergames.

It was just a few links I thought you guys might appreciate. It's all knowledge that you probably already know, but they're good links to pass on to teachers and whatnot.

I read the new york times article and was a little surprised and then i giggled and then i read the statement...

"In a study last year, researchers from the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., found that children playing Dance Dance Revolution expended significantly more energy than children watching television and playing traditional video games."

And then i shook my head. WHAT STUDY! They needed a study to figure out it takes more energy to stand up and dance then to sit on yer ass and push buttons. WTF! Why are we wasteing money on useless studys like this?

Chances are it was just a college project.

Obviously you've never seen me play video games that don't involve dancing. usually it involves me screaming at my moniter because I don't have a mic and I hope that my teamates can hear me...wherever they are.

I wanted to use that site so badly but when I went to their home page.... it was under construction (still is actually....) so I just searched around for other stuffs.

Great site though, I'll add it to my list up there.
