DDR Disney Channel Edition? WHY GOD WHY?

Post by Amp Divorax » Wed Jan 16, 2008 9:51 pm

This thread has been started to discuss what has to be one of the biggest abominations against mankind since Extreme US.

Seriously, F*ck you Konami of America!

Honestly, this is why I'm glad they aren't making anymore US Beatmania releases. I'd rather have to import the Japanese series than have some 3rd rate Disney music on it.

I quite enjoy Disney's Rave/Disney Mix.

And just because it exists doesn't mean you have to buy it.

There's no misunderstanding here. I know exactly what product is being discussed. DDR seems to be skewing a bit young these days. Lissa and I sent DDR stuff to her cousins for Christmas. They're two girls of like 14 and 11 and a boy of 9 (approximate ages...I don't know exactly). They'd probably love this game. Too bad it came out after Christmas or we would have sent it rather than SN2.

From a marketing standpoint, it'll probably be a pretty good seller. Just because you don't personally like it doesn't make it inherently bad. If you don't like/want it, don't buy it. Problem solved.

And in the spirit of full disclosure, RadioDisney is preset #4 on the radio in my car.

I gave the station a try once, but found too many songs that were played every hour (or more often!).. At times they'll have catchy stuff, but not often enough. Coupled with the occasional sound of little kids singing (which is something I abhor), I quickly changed my presets.

Actually the songlist from this mix is about 50% Konami originals including stuff like DoLL and Sweet Sweet <3 Magic so it can't be that bad

I generally share your sentiments. It's good for a quick pop hit (that's 'hit' like a dose, not necessarily 'hit' like a #1), but the repetitive format and juvenile demeanor is likely to drive anyone over the age of 14 to the brink of insanity before too long.

But if I need some empty-headed, head-bobbing goodness in a hurry, I know just where to tune.

Pedobear wishes this had been an arcade mix. He's running out of places to meet the ladies.

Hmmm I don't see much difference between this stuff and the teeny-bopper J-Pop type stuff that's already all over the place in Bemani. It's just in English....

The difference is that in the older JP releases there wasn't that much J-Pop in it! The J-Pop started to really come in around 5th Mix and newer. As for DDR Supernova and Supernova 2 the majority of songs are Bemani based and there are nowhere near as many licensed songs as there used to be due to Dancemania songs no longer being in the arcade and the over half of the new songs being Konami Originals or crossovers.
