Old news. But you can help! I've been running CGI Circumventor for over a year now. If you're on broadband and can spare some bandwidth, click here to read how you can help. Too bad it seems like most Chinese websurfers are after gay / lesbian porn as opposed to say political forums (both of which are banned). But hey that's humans right?

Hmm, I'd say that I have some reservations about letting other random people use my connection as a proxy. I'm too paranoid.Monban wrote:Old news. But you can help! I agree... I would love to help them voice their opinions.... but I don't want some little 7 year old chinese hacker to compromise my box -.-... And I don't want them using my bandwidth for gay porn.... (and yes it's old news, it's been ongoing since 2001ish... however this new topic is mostly microsoft's blogging tool being the main issue)LikeableRodent wrote:Hmm, I'd say that I have some reservations about letting other random people use my connection as a proxy. Thank you for contributing such valuable input to this discussion. How about offering your opinion on why you aren't willing to help less fortunate people have access to the free speech and information they deserve? Too much trouble? Why bother to post at all then? Maybe you think we're all desperate to hear your opinion, so you feel obligated to at least chime in that you have none?
If you have nothing to add to the discussion, why bother replying? All you do is waste server space, bandwidth, and make people have to scroll past your nonsense. In short, ZOMG YOU'RE WASTING ALL THE INTTERNETS AND THERE IS HARDLY ANY LEFT.

It's nice that he's doing it... I don't think you should scold him for contributing to a free internet.hascoolnickname wrote:when they are dling ghey pr0n and script kiddies get your ass caught by the po-po then you will know why
I wish they'd not be able to do the things above, but there are those who legimately want to be able to post their beliefs online, and they deserve every right to have that access.

I believe in freedom of expression and I believe in freedom of speech. I do not believe that there is such a thing as 'malicious data'. I think people have the right to send anything they want over the Internet and I also believe that people have the right to IGNORE any data they want.
I also believe that if people in China want to view gay pornography or participate in political discussions then it is my duty to assist them, even if I am personally interested in one facet and not the others.
My proxy is set up in such a way as to make it difficult to use to break into other people's systems, but if its used for that then I partially blame the victim for not using their right to IGNORE data properly.
It's nice that we have freedom of expression in the USA, but if you really believe that it's an inalienable right, why aren't you fighting to help the less fortunate have access to it?
