yeah but where will jurisdiction lie there buddy?
i don't think in court "I told him that he wasn't allowed to and that it would be his fault" would hold up very well to all the hacked pornography and mp3s Ho Chi Min decided to download. Or the zombie network of DDoSers/Spamers he was using your computer to control.
also hearing that this shit is becoming popular is making me sick to my stomach. it's only a matter of time before carders and the like find out about this proxy service and will use it to their gain.

insert code compile execute return
I monitor the activity on my proxy. It only takes a few minutes every day to glance at the log. And while it would be theoretically POSSIBLE to control a network of zombies using my proxy, it would be pretty difficult since the control packets would have to masquerade as HTTP requests and travel on ports 80 or 443.
Yes, a proxy is a powerful tool and can be used as a weapon. But so can all powerful tools. Just as with any tool, it is the responsibility of the owner to make sure it is being used in a way compliant with hir intent for it. If I rent out forklifts it's probably a good idea to make sure they are used to move boxes instead of impale cars on the side of the road.
Freedom is not free, and it requires a constant effort on the part of the citizenry to maintain it. So yes, helping this cause might require a little effort on your part. For me, that cost is well justified and worth it. Maybe you don't value freedom as highly, take it for granted. That's your right, and if I don't support your opinion, at least I'm putting forth an effort to make sure you have the right to have that opinion.

I don't mean to scold- it's totally nice that you are doing it, I just wouldn't want to. It's very nice of people to start methadone clinics, but I wouldn't want to run one out of my house.Green Tea wrote:It's nice that he's doing it... I wish they'd not be able to do the things above, but there are those who legimately want to be able to post their beliefs online, and they deserve every right to have that access.
I am totally for free speech and freedom of expression. You need an outlet for your creativity, and the internet is a great one to have. I don't mean to tell anyone to stop or anything of that nature- I just am to paranoid I guess.
I apologize.

You know the funny thing about france? Everyone in america seems to hate them, because they refused to go to war with is, when obviously, it has nothing to do with them to begin with.Green Tea wrote:well I too am paranoid about itwho knows... maybe some day I'll take over china and change all this... but not before I take care of those damn french
In all honesty, I would have sided with france if I had my own country. Each country has enough of their own problems without having to worry about everyone else's.
I would have told Bush to go fuck himself too. Why should the french die for our war?
Bush's claims that 'Iraq is a threat to everyone' are clearly all relative. To us, Iraq may have been a potential (POTENTIAL) threat, but to France? Germany? Europe in general? Not at all likely. And the only reason they may have been a threat to us, is because America keeps fucking around in everyone's business all the time.
Monban also makes some very valid points. You can ramble on about gay porn all you want, but hopefully you at least see the validity in his post, even if you choose to laugh at the situation (which is fine, I suppose, so long as you take something good away from it with you).

I haven't heard anything about that, but I'd personally prefer to have the internet under as little legislation as possible.x5060 wrote:I laugh when people say they want to put the internet under the control of the UN. You think china is bad, just wait till kofi annan has the control over EVERYONES internet.
