it has been around forever and isn't really even a proper visualization of the effect of drugs on the brain. spiders lack a lot of the evolved areas of the brain humanoids have and don't have the mental capacity to really fathom what the hell's going on.
if anything it shows that drugs modify signals in the brain and alters the function of an animal but past that it shows nothing.
