The next release for the US PStwo series will be.... DDR X?
Here's a look at the new logos for the 3 primary US franchises courtesy of Bemanistyle:
Really? Konami is gonna go with DDR X for a release title? Ok, maybe if it was the 10th release, but domestically this is the 9th Playstation based release and if this is what they are using for the arcades then they are a little late as SN2 was the 10th AC release in the primary series. Also, anybody trying to say it's the 10th anniversary of DDR for justification should reconsider as we are nowhere near the 10th anniversary for DDR in the US.

I really love CS:GO's 64 tick servers.

[8]DDR Supernova
[9]DDR Supernova 2

[11]DDR X

Re: The next release for the US PStwo series will be.... DDR X?
The Disney releases are not counted as the majority of players do not consider those to be a part of the regular series.
There is one odd feature that sticks out to me. Apparently 4 PStwos can be hooked together to do LAN games with up to 8 players. Honestly, this is something that should have been done for online gameplay when it was first introduced in the series instead of only allowing for one player on each side for online gameplay.
Edit: I should mention that if I am not mistaken, DDR X will be the first US PStwo release to have 480p support. (The US version of Supernova 2 did not, but the Japanese version did! I find it pathetic that 480p is standard for the PStwo arcade releases, but it's still yet to happen for the US version despite Konami making games for that platform for 6 YEARS NOW!)

Re: The next release for the US PStwo series will be.... DDR X?
Bumped due to shittons of new information...
First, DDR X has been confirmed as an arcade and console release for Japan and Europe. (Kinda no duh for Japan, but Europe is surprising, more info below.) Second, the European releases will no longer be called Dancing Stage and are now following Dance Dance Revolution apparently. Finally, there is currently no word on an Arcade release for North America (I'm guessing they'll state something about this in the next 2 months after the conclusion of the final Zukin Wars episode on E-Amuse.)
Now, normally I don't like dealing with rumors, but some of these do need to be addressed.
- The biggest rumor is that DDR is changing arcade hardware for this release. Due to the European release confirmation and GFDM switching to PC hardware, this could happen.
- Another rumor is that a revamped arcade cabinet will be released by Konami. I strongly doubt this one, espically if this gets a North American release given Betson's poor track record.
- One rumor even states that due to this celebrating the 10th anniversary, Konami will revive Dancemania licenses. Again, due to EMI not releasing the Dancemania series in our market, I don't see this happening.
I will also mention that if Konami does switch arcade hardware while they could move the majority of media to a different platform (Such as PC) without too much of a hassle, I think they would really have to focus on making sure that it's smoother than the move from System 573 Digital to PStwo. (The majority of players have noted that even though it's not too bad, Supernova 2 AC's overall sync is still a little awkward.)
Offnote: Holy crap this is a longass post!

There's a chance they could just be waiting for E3 to announce it.Amp Divorax wrote:Finally, there is currently no word on an Arcade release for North America (I'm guessing they'll state something about this in the next 2 months after the conclusion of the final Zukin Wars episode on E-Amuse.)

Well, I stand corrected on some of these rumors....
According to AM-NET (http://am-net.xtr.jp/game/profile.cgi?_v=1215600983) a private showing happened yesterday and today for the arcade release and there are a couple of startling developments.....
A new cabinet has been confirmed and it will have an updated speaker system and a widescreen monitor. Also, custom notecharts can be used once again courtesy of USB thumbdrives. Also, the mine concept is now officially in Arcade DDR (It's called a "shock arrow" on here), albeit no word on if it's gonna be regularily used or a modifier. Finally, the Japanese console release for DDR X has been confirmed for November which breaks with the springtime release cycle they've been using recently.
Edit: I forgot to mention that one of the press released confirmed that testing in the US and a arcade release will be happening.

What you are seeing on the sides of the cabinet are lights. (They kinda look like equalizers.)

AKA will probably end up broken in most US locations within a month! (That is, if they make that cabinet available domestically.)chocobojoe wrote:AKA CoatracksAmp Divorax wrote:What you are seeing on the sides of the cabinet are lights. (They kinda look like equalizers.)
