Just don't use your Merk voice.
The "OH HELLO YOU'VE REACHED MY CELLPHONE" one, or basically the one you use to talk to everyone who's not a close personal friend.

Good luck, little man!
I'll probably be back in the US in about 20 months, and I don't particularly look forward to job searching once I get there.

Hmm. Currently on a train heading back from Tokyo.
Passed the CCNP's ROUTE exam today, now have SWITCH and TSHOOT to go. Guess I'll start working on SWITCH on Monday.
Unfortunately the test center that's 80 km up north is only open on weekdays, so I either have to take a day off work or spend a Saturday going the 300ish km south to Tokyo to take the exams.

For ROUTE you can select between taking it in English or Japanese (I chose English). SWITCH and TSHOOT are only available in English.
One thing I found amusing is that non-native English speakers can get a 30-minute extension on the English-language test, for the simple reason that I took the exam in Japan it automatically gave me said extension. The same thing happened when I took my CCNA exam. However for both exams so far I finished well within the time limit, even without the extension.
But yeah, I just won about $400 worth of auctions to add to my collection some layer-3 switches and an access server so I can more easily study SWITCH at work. GNS3 is awesome for routing, but it seems that you still need to spring for the real deal for switches.
Good luck with your CCENT/CCNA. Due to me having to go to Tokyo to take my exams, I personally went for the composite exam to save travel costs. It ended up being a good decision.

Where the fuck do I get a switch? I'm a point in my study where I really can't practically learn without dicking around in an actual switch.

Re: [Grubb's] Random Thoughts of the Day
eBay, pretty much. You might be able to sweet-talk a local Cisco rep into loaning you one. I have an ANCIENT Catalyst you could borrow if you want, but I only have one of them.
I've never been overly fond of the Cisco certs. They seem to Cisco-centric, at least for the lower level ones.

A normality test:

If you are no longer connected to the internet, you need to apply more wax to your modem: it'll make it go faster.
If you find this funny, you're a nerd.
If neither of the above apply, you are normal. Congratulations.

I would like to borrow it, I am desperate and will take anything at this point. As long as it lets me ENABLE, COPY RUN STAR, CONFIG VTY 0 4, and SECRET cisco then it will work.
Exchange at the Bordello?

You're like 2 weeks too late. I just sold off a bunch of them from work at bargain basement prices.

God. Fucking. Damn it.
I wonder if phpBB has a limit on how many posts can go in a thread, will we ever have to lock this thread and start a second random thoughts thread?

I think we actually used that as an April Fools joke one year.

We need to do an actual April Fool's joke this year instead of yapping about how awesome the April Fools joke that didn't happen was. I think we've done that two years in a row now and it's kind of not awesome anymore.
Create an IndyDDR After Dark subforum for a day and have a shit load of NWS stuff. The joke is goatse. A buttload of goatse.

I haven't watched this week's either so it's best to stay out, Chad talks a little bit about the new episode.
I am pretty nervous about the interview and I'm trying to squeeze info about the job from a friend that works there already in a similar position. Are you going to Ho's this weekend, friend? I keep forgetting who is confirmed.
