Re: Merk I'm calling you out
Funny story! The hot marketing girl came up to my desk right when I clicked this thread. I have never locked my computer screen so fast in my life.
But yeah I'm down!

I'm sure she'd be as upset as I was. That guy has clearly never done a proper bandage in his life.Merk wrote:Funny story! The hot marketing girl came up to my desk right when I clicked this thread. I have never locked my computer screen so fast in my life.

I really love CS:GO's 64 tick servers.

If anyone else wants in this weight loss challenge, all you need is a scale. Can you shed them fats on your delicious body?

I'd meant to type 10/31. Not sure why I put 8/31. Chalk it up to my fat head.Ho wrote:Is this pushed back to October 31 now instead of August 31?
3 months to lose weight. You want in?
edit: Yes I know weight loss isn't as important as building muscle mass, but right now I think Merk and I are in a state where we want to cut our high body fat percentages. Even lifting would help accomplish that goal. BMI is stupid, and I can't think of a better way to measure progress than weight loss.
Re: Merk I'm calling you out
What is your target and is the competition for just straight number of pounds? I ask because, to be competitive, the amount of weight the two of you want to and may lose could be more than I would care to (or even should) lose.
To put some real numbers to this (I don't have a fancy scale with decimals like you apparently do), at the time of your initial post, I was about 165 lbs. I have already lost 5 since then (although I put 1 back last night at Fogo de Chao ).
I haven't really set a particular weight goal. My goal has more to do with getting rid of the little pooch just above my waistline that's been making some of my pants fit poorly. I'm not sure at what point that will happen (and I understand there's a chance it won't even if I lose weight).
All that being said, I probably wouldn't want to lose more than 20 lbs. from where I'm at now and even that seems like kind of a lot. While I let myself go right up to the cusp of what may be considered overweight, I don't really want to drive myself underweight like I was pretty much my whole life until sometime after college.
For reference, I believe I was about 120 when I graduated college in '97 and I haven't gained any height since then. I was a skinny bitch. Even now, I have more muscle mass than I did then, so I have no desire to get anywhere near that low again.

Re: Merk I'm calling you out
Sorry. That was a lot lengthier than I had intended. Let me just say that I like the idea of this thread as well as the other little "contests" we've had going on in the last year. They've helped give me some motivation to do something. Maybe not much all the time...but anything is more than nothing.

Re: Merk I'm calling you out
A year ago I was in pretty decent shape. I weighed 168 lbs.
Now I can't wear medium shirts. My size 33 jeans don't fit. My girlfriend said I have side boobs. My dad said I need to work out more and pointed to my tummy. Merk regularly says, "You got fat."
I would like to get back down to 170.

Re: Merk I'm calling you out
So you're looking at roughly 20 lbs....which would be around the absolute maximum I would want to lose. So is this contest for straight number of pounds or some kind or percentage or what? I don't intend to emaciate myself for the purpose of winning a contest.

Re: Merk I'm calling you out
Why don't we see who lost the highest percent at the end? Merk and I are doing straight weight, but we're also close to on tier in fatness.Ho wrote:So you're looking at roughly 20 lbs....which would be around the absolute maximum I would want to lose. Re: Merk I'm calling you out
Body fat percentage? All you need is a tape measure. You could still use the scale as the decision maker for victory, but it would be interesting to do BF% just for fun.Fluffyumpkins wrote: BMI is stupid, and I can't think of a better way to measure progress than weight loss.
Re: Merk I'm calling you out
So are you saying that if you got down to 170 by losing 21 lbs. (I'm ignoring decimals) that you would have lost 11%?
If I get down to 150 by losing 15, I will have lost 9%. This probably isn't a bet I should take.
But I will participate in the discussion and progress reports (if you don't mind) because I think this will be interesting and it's something I want to do anyway.
