Clearly the pornographic industry is a non-profit and sponsoring gamers in for-profit tournaments is a conflict of interest.

His job.

I still don't get it. What is his job? I'll quote Wikipedia here:
A conflict of interest (COI) occurs when an individual or organization is involved in multiple interests, one of which could possibly corrupt the motivation for an act in the other.
How does being sponsored corrupt his current motivations?

Yyyyyyeah you are being way too cryptic. Who are you referring to when you say "his?" Joe or the Brazzers guy? Joe will use the sponsorship to pay for flights and tournament fees, the company will likely get free exposure to its already pretty much main audience, and I doubt there will be much crossover. I don't think we're going to see any half-naked girls at fighting game tournaments and I seriously doubt you will see Joe doing any scenes for Brazzers or any Brazzers-run tournaments. I see it (and the dozens of other companies jumping on the sponsorship bandwagon lately) as a way to tap into the growing industry of e-sports since it hasn't really been done before, and like I said it's already their main target audience.

He might be saying that you have a conflict of interest being a teacher and attending these events with Brazzers as a sponsor of a player?
Still not a conflict of interest but whatever.

I was referring to the possible conflict of interest of being a teacher and attending such an event as from what I have observed, I am inclined to come to the conclusion that there are plenty of school systems who consider anybody who has any type of affiliation to adult entertainment (regardless of what it is) to be instantly toxic. Then again, I will also state that in the interest of fairness that Riot probably knows far more about these things. I apologize for inadvertently making my post cryptic.

Well just because I would go to a fighting game tournament where one person totally unconnected to me is sponsored by an adult website would have no reflection on me. Would I go to Brazzers Big Booby Bar Brawl? Nah. If LI Joe was at something like a midwest regional or something, he would be one person among tons of "normal" fighting game players. I think you're making everyone else a little too guilty by association. Just to make sure we're on the same page, the whole topic is mainly about Joe being sponsored by this certain website, not that there will now be fighting game tournaments held/run by Brazzers. I doubt that will ever happen. So like I said, the actions of one guy doesn't speak for other attendees. There are probably lots of analogies for this but I can't think of a good one.

Riot is toxic, yes. His bed was transformed to a vessel of unabated sin when Merk shot the hottest porn ever in his bed while poor Riot was out of town.
I understand what you're getting at now. There's definitely some concern involved with a teacher in the pocket of the porn industry. The motivations of the porn industry (get people to pay money for movies of dicks and boobies) don't really clash with the motivations of being a teacher (educate children.) That said I think schools avoid moral controversy like the plague, so he might want to button up.

I still fail to see how fighting game tournaments will be ANY different, especially the ones I'd go to around here. Most of them are already stinky gatherings of awkward foul-mouthed neckbeards; having one random guy sponsored by a company that likely won't have any offensive products at events won't change anything. Tournaments aren't going to suddenly become 18+ events because one dude is sponsored by Brazzers.

Way to go EA! Worst company in America is not an easy title to hold. There are a lot of big banks, telecom companies, social networks, and even Ticketmaster that stood in your way.
In a statement to Kotaku, EA Senior Director of Corporate Communications John Reseburg said:
We're sure that British Petroleum, AIG, Philip Morris, and Halliburton are all relieved they weren't nominated this year. We're going to continue making award-winning games and services played by more than 300 million people worldwide.
Arrogance that can't possibly come back to bite them in the ass. Cheers to you, my friends at EA! I'm off to buy SSX.

I think that says more about the readership of The Consumerist than it does about any particular company.
