Supernova money scoreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee dang it there's a difference! They actually got it right in Supernova and beyond!

Is money score calculated the same in all mixes SuperNOVA and above? My only reservation is that--especially on my end since I swap mixes with some frequency--we're not really guaranteed to play any given song on the same mix. I realize there are timing differences, too and we've ignored that historically.

Dance point score is 2 x perfect + 1 x great. Boo is -4. Miss is -8. That should be a consistently comparable number regardless of what mix either of us is playing. Unfortunately, we would have to go back and replay songs where we recorded only non-combos since we don't have the boo and miss counts. Unless, of course, we have that data and just didn't post it (that's probably the case for most of my scores...I usually take a picture that I reference to make my post later).

Alternately, we could just go with Oni scoring which is just 2 x perfect + 1 x great and everything else is worth nothing. We can get this from the data we already have on hand. It is relatively the same as what we've been doing and it's not like either one of us seems too worried about them. It would render our Holic results a tie, but I think most other results would come out the same as what we've been doing. And I know, at least on my end I've been replaying a lot to try and improve scores. This could also potentially break any ties we might end up with. Alternatively, if the World Cup taught us anything, it's that ties are ok.

I want to say it's calculated the same in all mixes Supernova and above with the obvious exception of marvelouses being worth more than perfects. I am pulling this out of my ass but I want to say there's only a 1% difference in terms of money-score between a marvelous and a perfect. A full perfect combo would get you 990,000,000 on a song while a full marvelous combo would get you 1,000,000,000. This money score difference should really only become a factor if we get the same amount of greats on a song but since we're competing by the numbers of greats we get on a song anyway then it shouldn't matter. You see, this shit is weird because if we played Centerfold on Extreme and went by dance points you'd win but if we went by straight Supernova money-score I'd win and if we did Oni scoring we'd tie. Oni scoring is definitely the easiest for us since I sort of lump all non-combos together and they are generally reflected as such in the OP.

Whoops. Oni scoring also grants 1 point for OKs. Should we just assume that we got all the freezes on the songs we've already played?

It seems like with the exception of a few songs, freezes are an obvious OK or a pad drop.

I can't recall the last time I've missed a freeze on my own volition in singles. I've missed a few freezes in doubles but that's mainly due to unfamiliarity with most charts and I get it on a second playthrough. If you get a low great count on a song and a NG then I think we should disclose the NG but only factor it in to determining the winner if we end up getting the same great count.

Like, if you got 5 greats + 1 NG on a song and I got 6 greats then I think you should still be the winner since you *probably* got the NG from a pad problem. I think it's fair to sort of play it by ear and be chart-specific on this rule, for something like Exotic Ethnic doubles freezes should matter since that chart's entire gimmick is being freeze heavy.

I misspoke (mistyped?) earlier. OKs are worth 2 points rather than 1. I guess that as long as NGs were recorded as NCs, everything will be fine.

Check the OP. I converted all our scores after the LONG ASS BREAK to the Oni system. I also made it a nice table form so it's easier to read (although harder to edit). I'm not sure why there's a huge blank space before the table. I probably have something configured wrong with the BBcode. I'll figure that out later. Anyway, check my math on some of the scores with NCs to see if I did it right and you agree.

EDIT: I forgot to add OKs to the relevant songs. I'm in the process of fixing that now.

Hell yeah I bolded the winning player so it's easier to see who won which song.

I was going to try and color the cells, but I think I need to make some more BBcode to do that. I guess you like the table though?

Ok. I corrected all the songs with freezes. Please check my math on at least 1 or 2 songs to confirm I'm doing it right. I basically calculated the perfects and greats and then subtracted 2 for any indicated NCs (since they would have been neither perfect nor great). It made sense in my head.

hahahahahh shit! You're right, I guess I never considered the possibility I'd own a DDR machine when starting this little contest.

Man, a lot of shit can certainly happen in three years.

I got a 437 (29 greats) on Da Capo last night. That chart is actually a lot trickier than I was expecting. It was also a lot jumpier and my back was yelling at me. I'm not sure why it's sore, but it was definitely letting me know about it. I updated the OP and changed the subject because I feel punny this morning.
