IIDA Controller = The best way to play IIDX aside from figuring out a way to import a DistorteD arcade machine!

One question, are there any recommended video capture cards for this as I wanna get the video input from my TV. I will state in advance though that I refuse to use ATI and Dazzle based capture devices.

i think there is a very detailed topic on bemanistyle by Audity on what he used and how to best capture it. i would try to find it. im pretty sure it was on 7.0 anyway. i would check just in case but that is the only advice i can give you.

I'm all for this project, but can you guys start a new thread with it? Please?
Meanwhile, MonMotha and I had a little head-to-head IIDX competition on Sunday night. Many scores were raised on both sides and leads were traded several times.
And there was much (song) whoring and rejoicing throughout the land...
Also from the weekend:
AAA #23: Gentle Stress L7
AAA #24: Macho Gang L7 (This was way more difficult than I think it should have been. Though my current score is higher than AMP's...which I'm sure will be remedied shortly now that I have announced this.

)
AAA #25: Airflow L7 (Hooray! I tried desperately to make this my first AAA when I started playing regularly again last month. I was able to get within 13 EX, but just couldn't make it. With a month's worth of practice (on other songs) and 24 AAAs later, I finally made it happen this morning.)
At this point, I think I'm going to discontinue direct IIDX compeition for a little bit. I want to focus on completing L7 data in VJ Army for 10th and 11th Styles. I went through about a year ago and filled in everything for 3rd-9th, but I never got around to doing the same for 10th and 11th.

No worries. I'm not mad about it or anything. It had just grown from a tangent into a full discussion that I think would likely be better served in its own separate topic.
And thanks for the encouragement!

Nothing too exciting to report this morning except for a funny little story.
I turned on "ye olde didder machine" this morning. It's been a week or two since I've done so in the morning. I enjoy playing a few songs to get the blood flowing before heading off to work, but I often neglect to actually do it.
Anyway, it takes awhile to boot, so I turned on the PS2 to play some IIDX while I waited. As stated a couple posts ago, I have 10th Style in currently as I'm working on filling out all the Light 7 scores for it. While I waited for it to start up too, I started picking up a few things around the basement.
10th Style eventually started and entered attract mode since I hadn't gone over to do anything with it. It played Platonic-XXX as a demo song. I hadn't really heard it before because I haven't played much 10th Style yet I recognized the melody. Coincidentally, DDR (I currently have MAX2 installed) finished booting and entered attract mode as well. It played Secret Rendezvous as a demo song...just in time to confirm for me what I had just realized. Sure enough...it was the same song!
Of course I played them both. I got an A on each...not especially great, but whatever.

That's part of the reason why I avoid that song at all costs!

Not a fan of Secret Rendezvous?
I have always appreciated its soulful groove. And then there's the suggestive girl-girl background video in DDR...

Beatmania has alot better suggestive backgrounds. Watch Last Message and you'll see!

True that. Though I'd like to nominate the video for true... from DDRMAX for such honors as well. (noting that the video appears only in DDRMAX and not in later mixes even though the song carried forward--not sure about SuperNOVA though)

I could have sworn the video was also on MAX2, though it definatley got pulled from Extreme. Did the two different mixes of True have different videos or something?

Actually, I think you are correct that the video is in MAX2. I think I just forgot about it when I wrote that earlier. MAX2 is still installed in my machine. I'll have to check it when I get home later today.

It's definitely not on Supernova. Almost all of the BGvids got eliminated except for those with full music videos. in favor of the dancers.

One down, one to go.
I played a bunch this morning, and I now have complete data for 10th Style. Well, except for one. I did not play 5.1.1. L7 since my understanding is that it is the 7-key chart from previous styles and 7-key has a new chart.
I already have a AAA for 5.1.1. 7-key, and I didn't want to count a duplicate just yet. I'd rather have unique charts to count as AAAs since I'm just getting started and my count is low. Maybe once (or if) I'm cool like AMP and have hundreds or thousands of AAAs, I won't care that some might actually be dupes.
But speaking of AAAs... In the process of filling out 10th Style I logged AAA #26: Limited. It was my first time playing it and it just happened. So I guess this is my first sight read AAA. In general, I was just playing songs and not going back to raise scores unless I missed a grade by just a few EX and felt that I could get them easily.
