Let's see... I've been baking a lot lately, but not much that deserves recognition. Just little snacks and boredom busters and such. n_n

Well Id like to thank gattchoon for patiently explaining to me how to make ramen noodles in the microwave. Thanks a bunch, im horrible at cooking and never would have figured it out LOL

No problem. =)

It's ok, my roommate asked me the same thing during the school year. And I do it all the time. Dang, I even eat it dry when I'm too lazy to cook it. Am I the only one that does it? 'Cuz I think it's good. =D

nope, in liek 8th grade i saw a kid on my bus doing and i was liek wtf, he was liek its good, so I did it wenever i was to lazy. infact i did it like 3 nights ago, pretty messy lawlz

nope! i know a few casserole recipes that use dry ramen noodles..i also know of a hamburger :shock:

Speaking of cooking, though, my basic foods and food theory class is about over. I think I'll miss the class, but the last thing I'm going to miss is the professor I had for it. He's horrible. n_n

But I learned a lot, and a greater quantity of tasty food is pouring out of my kitchen. n_n

it doesn't say on the package but the theory is very simple... actually google will do it too. if you type in the words ramen and microwave in the search the first site you get is: http://www-personal.umich.edu/~mkinnavy/ramen.html

Whenever I'm hungry, I just make spaghetti, with no sauce, but adding shredded cheese.

Sometimes, when I have nothing else to do, I add chopped hamburger.

So...like maccaroni and cheese or hamburger helper? n_n

It's cool. I do that with my left over spaghetti a lot. It's also very tasty to eat it cold as pasta salad. n_n

I dunno - if I have the energy to make the pasta, I usually have the energy to make the sauce. Though if I'm eating leftovers I may go for a simple modified alfredo sauce, or I may just toss it with diced tomatoes and sliced mozzarella.

Usually the creativity comes in the herbs I mix into the pasta itself, though. Too bad you can't get fresh basil around here. :(

Mmmm... dammit, now I'm hungry. :evil: Running to the store now...

so, the other day i had to teach my guy friend, josh, how to boil water. yes that's right. he really didnt know how. odd.

Niiiiice.

Oh well, could be worse. I remember when I was a kid, we went through two or three microwaves (and other nearby appliances) because my father set them aflame trying to make microwave oatmeal (which was fairly new to us at the time). For those of you who don't know how to make microwave oatmeal, the recipe is as follows:

1) Put instant oatmeal in water.
2) Put bowl in microwave; heat for ~5 mins.
3) Remove and enjoy.

Sadly, my father was very poor at estimating the amount of time necessary to make his oatmeal "just a little hotter." Tip: if it's almost cooked enough after 5 minutes, 45 additional minutes will probably be too much. Another tip: if you enter a room and find that there is a raging fire filling your microwave, DON'T OPEN THE MICROWAVE DOOR.

This is why I never really got to touch a stove until I grew up. Thankfully, my father's anti-chef gene seems to have skipped me. Either that, or it kicks in on a time-delay and they'll find me one day asphyxiated with pasta dough.

Edit: while I'm here anyway... does anyone have experience with making their own cheeses? I've been really frustrated with my inability to find good ones around here, and someone recently told me that it's not as costly as I'd previously thought.

I had oatmeal for breakfast everyday of my life from kindergarten to 6th grade. Plus some, and before that too. Yum.

It was the greatest when yogurt was mixed in with it, or NesQuik powder... and/or bananas. Oh wow, I want some now.

But, NEVER MIX TANG POWDER IN YOUR OATMEAL! The one day my mom didn't make it for me, I decided to put Tang in it. It was disgusting. And orange. ;_;
