No no no, the REAL killer in America.... CARS. More people die in car wrecks every year than....well, pretty much anything. If the government was so concerned about death, we'd have shifted entirely to public transit by now.
no kidding
not to mention the fear of terrorist acts that everyone seems to have. 4 times more likely to be struck by lightning.

I'm glad you find future issues of our nation boring. Perhaps it doesn't mean anything to you, but given that a number of the big idealistic issues in our country effect me directly, don't be surprised if I pay attention to them and discuss them.
Issues concerning gun control, religion, censorship and sexuality are all pretty important to me. Perhaps you find them boring. That doesn't make them any less important to the rest of us.
And it just fucking irks me that so many people fall for the media circus bullshit. They play up school shootings and terrorism like some crazy epedemic that's going to be the death of us all, when as Potter said, you're more likely to get plucked off this mortal coil by a fucking cloud on a rainy day, or get hit by a car crossing the street.

If I were to suggest that between the Earth and Mars there is a china teapot revolving about the sun in an elliptical orbit, nobody would be able to disprove my assertion provided I were careful to add that the teapot is too small to be revealed even by our most powerful telescopes. But if I were to go on to say that, since my assertion cannot be disproved, it is an intolerable presumption on the part of human reason to doubt it, I should rightly be thought to be talking nonsense. If, however, the existence of such a teapot were affirmed in ancient books, taught as the sacred truth every Sunday, and instilled into the minds of children at school, hesitation to believe in its existence would become a mark of eccentricity and entitle the doubter to the attentions of the psychiatrist in an enlightened age or of the Inquisitor in an earlier time

I've been using that same example, albeit with a pink flying lion with a green tail outside whatever building I'm in that one cannot see.

For some reason, that seems like it could very well be a Dragonforce song.
