NICE MR2! I almost bought a 88 Supercharged MR2, but couldn't find one that had a good condition body with a well maintained mechanical aspect.

Beatmaniac: Thats what my car is going to be, or already is. Massive sleeper.

I'm getting a full turbo setup from TurboTech out of Canada, they specialize in sub compacts and my engine specifically. Assuming all goes well by the end of the year I should have a Swift faster than Ho's car.
BAHAHAHA, too bad Matt's MR2 is NOT THAT CLEAN. HAHAHAHA

btw Chris (barcode), there's no point in posting under-the-hood pix here at indyddr. most people wouldn't know wtf they are looking at.

got that turbo running yet?

BeatmaniacIIDX wrote:A headgasket is easy when it hasn't blown yet. Now it probably will need a head job and such. Plus, in an MR2, you have to drop the engine through the bottom to work on it, which means you need alot of equipment, a friend with the equipment, or have a shop do it for $700 or so. But the EDM/ADM/JDM Swift engine doesn't weigh much more, just weight from the turbo and accessories. Plus, it would be cheaper to get that engine and have it swapped in. It costs usually between 2-3k for a shop to install a turbo kit, even on a Honda. You will be in the 14s on the 1/4 mi though if you have a manual, which I'm guesing you do.
Actually its almost impossible to drop a honda engine or any engine for that matter into a swift. I won't go into details why, but it'd cost alot more to do that for very minimal power gain than to turbo it. All swift GTi's were built in Japan anyways, and has the same engine as the Cultus, although it has a different manifold design and a lower compression ratio. The weight of my engine is about 300lbs if not less, which is a feather compared to those huge ass VTec engines, and the power gain would be minimal. You are talking about dropping in 140 hp engine at the crank? My engine is almost pushing 140hp now as is. When I get my head done, cams, and new manifold I'll be at 140. The turbo kit I'm purchasing by the end of the year will put me over 200HP. If you want specs I can send you some of the turbo kits I'm looking at.

BTW Hobo, spell Camaro right.

edit: Oh yah, you think I'm going to have a shop install my turbo kit? haha. That'd be ridiculiously expensive.

That makes more sense, I thought you were talking from stock. I wouldn't do the turbo myself though, I detonated my first neon engine (2.4 magnum imported from Mexico). Try IIP or somewhere. Hell, get a 5-7k loan and go all out.

The turbo kit isn't going to cost me no more than 3000$ for everything, and this setup after head, cams, intake, TB, my MAF case, vitara pistons, etc being done, should set me up to the 13's easy. I plan on running 10-15 psi boost as a daily driver, so all precautions will be taken before getting so I don't blow the motor. And if I do? 500$ for a new motor, or even cheaper to rebuild.

Still a pain in the ass though :P I was thinking of doing a MR2 MKI build up, but no matter what you do, when heavily modified, the engine is unreliable. I recnetly almost bought a Swift GTi with a nitrous set up, but instead waited and didn't buy an AWD Izuzu Impulse Turbo that the owner lied about... Fucking bastard..

I have a 2001 Toyota Celica.

I'm 16, so I don't really care about upgrading it or anything.

I do have a nice stereo put in, though.

GT-S or stock? Manual or Automatic? PLLEASE tell me you have the 6 speed :(

Casey: Give it time :P I don't want to go the cheap route. AKA 1500$ for turbo setup + TMIC to only run 6-10psi boost -_-x and 10 would be pushing it with that setup.

I know I don't have the 6-speed, it's automatic, and I really don't know if it's GT-S or stock. I just drive it.

My parents didn't want me having too much power :?

In response to my previous posts.

No, those are not my cars.

Yes, i have 2 cars that are identical, my MR2 has extensive body damage, wich is currently undergoing restoration.

My spec V, however, is identical to the picture.

I was simply lazy, and didnt want to go outside and take a pic.

I guess i fail at life, and should kill myself.
