Plus, in an MR2, you have to drop the engine through the bottom to work on it, which means you need alot of equipment, a friend with the equipment, or have a shop do it for $700 or so. But the EDM/ADM/JDM Swift engine doesn't weigh much more, just weight from the turbo and accessories. Plus, it would be cheaper to get that engine and have it swapped in. It costs usually between 2-3k for a shop to install a turbo kit, even on a Honda. You will be in the 14s on the 1/4 mi though if you have a manual, which I'm guesing you do.
Actually its almost impossible to drop a honda engine or any engine for that matter into a swift. I won't go into details why, but it'd cost alot more to do that for very minimal power gain than to turbo it. All swift GTi's were built in Japan anyways, and has the same engine as the Cultus, although it has a different manifold design and a lower compression ratio. The weight of my engine is about 300lbs if not less, which is a feather compared to those huge ass VTec engines, and the power gain would be minimal. You are talking about dropping in 140 hp engine at the crank? My engine is almost pushing 140hp now as is. When I get my head done, cams, and new manifold I'll be at 140. The turbo kit I'm purchasing by the end of the year will put me over 200HP. If you want specs I can send you some of the turbo kits I'm looking at.
BTW Hobo, spell Camaro right.
edit: Oh yah, you think I'm going to have a shop install my turbo kit? haha. That'd be ridiculiously expensive.
