I busted out my Dreamcast yesterday for some Typing of the Dead action. I love that game. Honorable mention goes to Phantasy Star Online for all the time I wasted on that game. (I was surprised to find my VMU with my very first character still on it!)

My childhood was ALL about the SNES. My favorite games were:
Kirby's Avalanche
Secret of Mana (aka Seiken Densetsu 2)
Street Fighter 2 (My first 2D fighter..)
Super Mario RPG - I must've beaten this game all the way through about 30 times...
Final Fantasy "III"
Games today suck. Also, Final Fantasy VII was a game I loved as a child, but no one in the second grade knew what a Final Fantasy was.

I personally liked Seiken Densetsu 3 better, but that's personal preference..
However... the single best game for SNES, which wasn't released in the US, but was in europe and japan... Terranigma (soul blazer 3).
it's story I think rivals chrono trigger and final fantasy... check it out sometime...
it's like a cross between zelda and final fantasy... it's an action RPG... and good.

best snes game is super mario kart hands down...maybe super metroid square rpgs had nice stories in them but most of them had childish scripting and they're all so similar...they're also highly overrated imo. check out live-a-live it's a jap square rpg...real good and short

this isn't really a old game, but i didn't feel it was worth a new thread. riviera for gba...it's pretty cool. It's a RPG for those that grow tired of finding all the little nick nacks and just want the story to go on. I like it because I can sit down and play a few mins and put it up...then again, I can do that with anything in emulation...go go save states! but it's still a good rpg.
as for dc, i've been playin some ROLW (record of lodoss war) lately
