I applied to a company called Lightbound in downtown Indianapolis at the behest of some dude on Something Awful. By the look of things I'll have an interview this Thursday.

The position will pay $35k so it's going to be a lateral move from my position at Apparatus. It's a shift-based rotating schedule and I would have four days on working a 12 hour day shift and then a four day weekend every week.

Obviously I have no idea how much they gouge their residential and business customers but I'm sure their margins are ginormous just like any other Telco place.

So why can't I connect to a Cisco router's console through a simple RJ-45 ethernet cable? Why do I have to use a RJ-45 to D-9 cable and then use a D-9 to USB adapter? Does anything really use a COM port anymore? Why can't they just get with the times?
