Please list any error messages that you are getting. Did something get knocked loose? Like people have been saying, please verify that your hard drives are plugged in, spinning, and the SATA / IDE / Whatever cables are nice and snug in the disks themselves and the mother board.

Okay so this is what I've found:

I unplug my main hard drive with my OS, and with my storage drive still in there it says "Boot from CD: DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER" after it says "Verifying DMI Pool Data..... Update Success" I plugged back in my main hard drive and it still gets stuck at this stage. I'm thinking the hard drive might have died or something. Does that sound like what happened? I can format my other drive I guess....

I can boot from the windows cd I wonder what will happen if I try to reformat my apparent bad drive. Any clue?

I'm reformatting my hard drive that is giving me the problems right now.... so it seems like it's still operational... unless the Windows installation fails that is. Weird... we'll see what happens I guess. When I go to reformat I now see

Disk 1 Partition 1: System reserved total size: 100mb free space: 71mb type: system
Disk 1 Partition 2 total size: 139.6gb free space: 139.5gb type: primary

I don't remember there being partitions before... is that normal?

(I'm editing this post after my next one, where I installed Windows 7 over an existing copy of it... now I just formatted it completely so we'll see if this works better.)

Did you try doing a Windows repair on the allegedly broken disk?

I still say the issue lies outside the operating system. Yes, it's potentially that the hard drive your OS resides on died, but that's a hardware issue that I don't think reformatting will help.

If you don't care about what's on your secondary drive you can flatten and re-install that mother fucker and put Windows on it which I THINK YOU ARE DOING ANYWAY SO GOOD JOB ROIT.

You could just run your machine off a Linux disk, drag the shit you need off the offending hard drive on to your secondary, and then flatten and install the OS on the offending drive. That way you won't lose anything!

Well I just completely formatted my main hard drive back to 0 so I don't install another copy of Windows 7 over the top of it again. I think I'm just going to wait until i get my new video card in the next day or two before I reformat this thing that way it automatically picks up all the right drivers and all that crap. Or will it even really matter if I swap out the video cards once it's all up and running? I guess I can always delete the drivers and reinstall for the new card but who knows

Yeah when you install your new card Windows 7 will pick up the appropriate drivers and install em automatically.

It's actually a really neat feature of W7! Fuck Linux, fuck Apple.

I'm mainly just kinda concerned as to what could have caused that weird issue. I think it triggered from a Windows Automatic Update, as when I put my computer to sleep last night I could see that it wanted to install updates. I woke up with it hanging on "Verifying DMI Pool..." like that. I don't know if it's a freak one time thing, or if my hard drive actually is failing. It's being recognized and Windows seems to install fine to it, so I don't know. I'm going to get it up and running and just kinda take it easy until I get my new card, then make sure everything is hooked up and put the side of the case back on.

On a side note, is anybody interested in buying a really nice 7.1 sound card? I put it up for sale on Amazon for $100, and they're worth near $200. I'm not really an audiophile like a lot of people and I mainly used it for Counter-Strike to hear footsteps and stuff, but now that I'm not all hardcore about that anymore I figure one of you might like it for media purposes. Anyways here's the listing, you can check out the specs. Price kind of negotiable.

The Expo in town decided to hold a concert outside of my apartment complex at 6:30am this morning, so much for sleeping in!

But whatever, I shrugged it off. Did my morning routine, left my apartment five minutes before I'm supposed to be at work since I live a mile away, went downstairs to the parking lot, and my tire was flat! Woot!

Happy casual Friday!

Just FYI these tickets are now spoken for. If anyone is ever genuinely interested in going (ie. no one) just shoot me a PM. It seems like I can score tickets once a week these days!

Keep in mind you get absolutely 100% free beer, food, water/soda.

But you still have to deal with the fact that it's WOMEN'S basketball..which is right below Lacrosse on the list of watchable sports...
