so i went to play yesterday and only got 8 greats on max300. i was kinda happy but its not a AAA

A Black Flag is when you get all perfect's and one great on a song. There are also several other colored flags:

I'm not sure on these, but here they are anyway:
Blue Flag - All perfects and one Good
Purple Flag - All perfects and one Boo
Red Flag - All perfects and one Miss
Green Flag - All perfects and one N.G. (considered the worst flag to get)
White Flag - A Black Flag, but your one great is on the first note of the song

I'm sure there's others, but I haven't heard any of them.

Yeah, but no one uses those anymore. I don't think they ever got really popular. The only one I hear used and I personally use is black flag.
