Example: "WTF" takes longer to say than the profanity it obscures. That's dumb, you gay, I'm out.

Do any of you guys remember what laser stands for off the top of your head? Because I sure don't. I just remember it's an acronym for something and then nobody would believe me.

The most massive collection of human knowledge the world has ever known is easily accessible from a small device found in most people's pocket nowadays, and you're telling me you lose discussions about whether "laser" is an acronym or not?

I hate to be the know-it-all that pulls my phone out of my pocket all the time to show people that they're wrong, but I begrudgingly do so anyway because by golly gosh, I know that I am right.

(Note about previous sentence: I lied. I enjoy it.)

edit:
And yeah, I also can't remember what LASER stands for off the top of my head. I forget what RADAR is too, but I can at least remember SCUBA. And AIDS. Everyone loves AIDS.

People get pissed when you prove shit and nobody knows how to use the internet. And you wouldn't believe the things some people deny. For some reason people trust old, published books much more than an active, real-time internet. Nobody seems to know the difference between a reliable source or not. The joke is you can show them a legit, professional website presenting a study or something with sources, statistics, and information on their processes, but since it's internet-ey they'll deny it's value and then they turn around and download some shit off a sketchy site and fill their computer with generic viruses and hurr durr all over the place.
American schools honestly discourage the use of the tools available to us today which is really sad because I think they're quieting a lot of possible success by forcing them to do things in old fashioned, obsolete ways instead of teaching them how to truly and effectively learn to problem solve.
And nobody around me knows how to fucking use Google. I swear people think I'm the god of warez because I can always get links to whatever they want even though all I really do is Google things.

Rotten Tomatoes says, "Drive is pedal-to-the-metal stuff. Don't get behind the wheel unless you can take the rush." Can you take the rush, Potter?

hmm. Does it really dig into the skill and art of driving itself or the fucktard culture surrounding it, through the eyes of people who wouldn't survive two minutes on a track?

I hope the former!

It's not really about racing or driving culture or anything... It's not a braindead action movie at all, but very slow and deliberate, building tension and suspense really well. Beautifully shot and edited imo.

The trailers are super misleading, it's a heist movie and character study more than a movie about driving at all. Ryan Gosling was awesome. Check ch-ch-check ch-check check check it out.

You know Potter you bring up a good point. I like a lot of weird quirky sub-cultures but in general I absolutely hate the other people that enjoy the sub-culture as well. I can often say "I would love [insert gay little niche activity here] if it weren't for the fucking fans." I tell myself that a lot of these people are just transient fans who like what I like just to be hip before they move on to the next flavor of the month and I'm usually right. The shit of it is though that transient fans tend to have a high turnover rate so the attention-seeking neckbeard that moves on from my precious niche gets replaced by another oddball pedophile looking to fit in somewhere.

DDR is actually a great example of this! How many times have you seen some anime loving fuck flub about on some song - not really trying to get better - who then yaps on about pocky and Rurori Kenshin in between sets to people who obviously couldn't give any less of a shit? They like the game because it's from Japan (just like anime!) and it satisfies their unending thirst to be as different as possible from the mainstream. They play not because they genuinely really like the game or because it could be considered exercise or whatever - but rather because lololol it's Japan!

Yeah I take my videogames seriously and I have a bug up my butt about it. Does anyone remember that Dancing Queen IU guy from Bloomington that posted here like 6 years ago? He is literally the epitome of people who play DDR who I despise. Motherfucker gave me some huge tirade about voting during the 2004 election in-between a set once and if I wasn't full of impotent white rage at the time I probably would've given him a verbal backhand. Bro I'm here to stomp some arrows and get laughed at by fratties at the IMU, not to hear about how Democrats are some selfless entity that aren't just in it for the power who are going to solve all our problems. If you knew the slightest shit about politics you would know that Monroe county is the proverbial blue bastion of Indiana and trying to get people to vote Democrat in Bloomington is like trying to get a retard to grab someone's balls - they're going to do it as if their life depended on it. Obviously being the fat fuck that he was he quit playing 6 months later but god damn that was a bitch of a 6 months.

Let's talk about sub-cultures we enjoy and the people that ruin them.

Let's talk about sub-cultures we enjoy and the people that ruin them.
Idiot drug culture enthusiasts ruin electronic music. I go for the music, not to see a bunch of idiots put on lightshows and trade kandi.

Pretentious overprivileged white people ruin wine. I'd love to enjoy it without everyone trying to constantly explain how much they know from having read a few books on Italy and showing of their expensive things.

Attention starved try-hards ruin Facebook. Status updates worth reading are muddled by a deluge of pointless, untrue, and needy posts that remind me of why I left LiveJournal.

Holistic medicine new-age hippies ruin farmer's markets. Isn't the point to be able to buy local produce? I don't need a political lecture or commentary from a man wearing a dress noting my clothes were made in a sweatshop.

There are probably others, but the above are some circles I just can't 100% commit to because of the fans.
