DS appreciation station

I sold my PSP on sunday, due to the lack of games worth a shit and decided I'd check out the ds library. I fell in love with advance wars so I picked up a DS with advance wars, mario 64 ds, meteos and *cough cough*nintendogs (which is gone now).

I must say all of them except nintendogs are great games. But, the japanese are nuts to think that nintendogs is remotely fun. Speaking into a horrible speach recognition software and drawing a line and tapping poop is not fun...at all...

Currently my fav is advance wars but I'm having problems getting motivated in campaign mode, it seems I have to do every battle twice

I've got some trade-in credit and was thinking about gettinga GBA rpg to hold me over but I don't know what's good these days. I want something Golden Sun-esque but not Golden Sun as I've beaten 1 & 2. The last rpgs I played were Mario & Luigi and Sword of Mana for gba....so what recent gba rpgs are worth a purchase?

Final Fantasy 1 & 2: Dawn of Souls is good. You can never go wrong with a Pokemon RPG. Emerald isn't that old so if your into those games be sure to pick it up.

Well, 'Riviera: The Promised Land' is a pretty popular RPG for the GBA, so you might consider looking into that. 'Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap' is more along action-adventure lines, but that is extremely well-liked. 'Final Fantasy: Tactics Advance' is always a safe choice, if you're into a game with replayability and depth.

On top of those, 'Lunar: Dragon Song' is coming out for the DS in about a week

I'll pass on the ds and get a micro when they come out
there really aren't that many uses for both screens, I was disappointed. not to say that you made a bad choice, both the ds and psp have their weaknesses.
I would say definitely get the FF goodness since you have a ds

You might look into importing Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan!, it was made by a bunch of the people who did Gitaroo Man. It's another music based game, this time you touch buttons on the bottom screen, usually along the drum beats. There are only 15 stages, but there are multiple difficulty levels to add to the replay value. Between this and Meteos, my DS purchase is entirely justified.

Here's a movie from the Nintendo website.

Phoenix Wright comes out later this week over here, supposedly with an option to play in English. I can't wait.

I pre-ordered Lunar as I planned on playing the shit out of it since I adored the other two, but haven't gotten past opening it and putting it in its new home because Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow is the shizniggity.

P.S. I would enjoy playing Advance Wars DS with a real person one day.

P.S.S. PSP really sucks, dont let people fool you.

P.S.S.S. Are you really still reading this?

You guys get Mario Kart like a month before I do. :(
At least I'll have a slight head start on Animal Crossing.

Everyone with a DS really needs to import Ouendan though, it's hands down the best DS game available at the moment.

Phoenix Wright is also fun though, it's basically a hilarious version of Law and Order for the DS. I think it comes out in America soon.

Im still a little confused about the DS's construction.... when you state to import games are you saying that the Japanese games fit and work with the US version, or is the console universial cart wise? Or is it like the US SNES sytems where you have to get rid of the little "nubs" on the inside?

How much would it be for you to mail me that? The only thing stopping me from getting it is ridiculous shipping costs.

Honestly, it wouldn't be any cheaper than play-asia.com or lik-sang.com. I forget how much the game is selling for right now (amazon.co.jp has it listed at ¥4,223, SRP is ¥4,800), and the last time I shipped a package home it was about $50 (admitedly it was much heavier than a single DS game, and it got there in about 3~4 days).

Play-asia has really cheap shipping if you don't mind waiting a week or two, and lik-sang offers free shipping.

Not to mention lik-sang is currently offering free shipping on a lot of their games right now, and Ouendan is one of them.

Edit: Wow, don't know how I missed the end of the last post :x
