I don't know much about power adapters, but I need to pick up something for an old mixer I own. It looks to be a discontinued part and internet searching hasn't turned up any sources.

Input: 120V AC 60Hz 12W
Output: 10V AC 500mA

Are there any generic power adapters that might work? Would something close to the above specs work or would it need to be exactly the same? Right now I have a paperweight, so I'm willing to try darn near anything.

Just go to Rad-Shack and get an adapter with those specs. The plug-in part should fit right but you might wanna take the mixer with you to test out the adapter before you purchase.
With different voltages you'll either underpower it and it probably won't even turn on or you'll overpower it and it could fry (or slowly cook it).

So input is less important?

As long as it takes 120V 60Hz power on the input, you're fine. That's what comes out of your wall. The rating on the input just represents the most it'll draw off the wall.

10V is a strange output voltage. You normally see 9 or 12. If you can't find a 10, try a 9; it might work, especially since lots of those cheap wall warts run high. If not, I can build you a little 10V regulator for use with a 12 or 15V wall wart if you can't find a 10.

Ah. That makes sense. I've never been good with electronics and appreciate the expertise.
