Hah ha, we've had stuff like this pop up before. It's kind of like an inside joke now, adding the 'and the discussion of it' to the end. More or less just to be amusing, but since you weren't here when it all went down, it probably just looks retarded. Well, it is actually, but hey, whatever passes the time.

It's definately an IndyDDR inside joke of sorts. It happened some on the forums before it was relaunched, but this time it seems to have really caught on such that almost every topic has either "and the discussion of it" or some joke about that phrase contained in the title. I'm not sure where it originated, though if it really, really matters to you, Ho or myself could probably be convinced to look at all the old stuff and find the first instance of it.
There have been various meta topics on this phrase, such as "Discussing discussions, and the discussion of it" and such, but they seem to have all fallen off the first page of Conversation Cornucopia, so I'm not surprised you missed them. I don't think any were this pointed in nature though.
Some other classics include "The official <foobar> thread" and adding "in the face" to the end of things (that's relatively new). Oh, and of course Brian Ho's ginormous cock.

The threads they originated in on this launch were Aspen's Sex, Religion, and Politics threads, all tagged with 'and the discussion of it.' Religion and Sex are probably still on the first page, but I think Politics fell by the way-side now that the election is done and over with. It was a popular topic before the forum's re-launch, though.

Now doesn't it feel awesome to be in on one of this forum's in jokes? You can now walk up to random people on the street, proudly thrust out your chest, and tell them that you, yes YOU, know the origin of the "discussion of it" on IndyDDR.com. Once this random stranger hears this touching story they're sure to feel pity on you and donate some money to help pay for your bills for the mental health hospital.
