So I was watching the local news tonight, about the smoking ban in resturants.

I smoke, but I'm not against the smoking ban (in resturants anyway).

They interviewed this one obese woman (she was like effing huge) and she had her horde of fat little bastards with her.

She was going on about how happy she was because she worried how the smoke would affect her children's health.

I was like ROFFLECOPTER for a good 3 minutes while my boyfriend just looked at me.

Then I started wondering "I think the people who edit this stuff do it on purpose"

Image in my head:

2 guys bored out of thier mind viewing clips and see the fat bitch

Guy 1: OMG she's effing huge!!!!

Guy2: LOLLERSKATES Dude put her on as the advocate of health!!!!

Guy 1 &2: ROFFLECAUST!!!!

So what was the last stupid thing that you found to be way funnier than it really was.

<3 irony

Smoking bans rock. I don't smoke anymore, although I used to, and I must say, not having to worry about coming out of a pub or something smelling like a chimney is fabulous.

That's the general effect I seem to have; I should invest in a boombox that'll precede my arrival on the scene with some sort of demented ice cream truck fare.

using horrible GBS phrases doesn't make you cool.

With that said, I'm all for smoking bans. Bloomington has had no smoking in resturaunts or public for a long time. The only resturaunts you can smoke in are ones that were around before the first initial ban years ago. I like walking around and not having my mood ruined by a foul scent. I may smoke pot but I don't walk around doing it everywhere I go...some things are best done in the comfort of your own residence where you cannot upset others.

The new law Bloomington just passed is golden. I'm all happy for it.

Well, I'm a non-smoker, and I hate the smell of smoke, but I don't see why this decision has to be made by the government. If I own a private business, why can't I decide for myself whether people can smoke there? It is my business afterall, and smoking is legal. I can understand the ban in all PUBLIC places (bus stops, hospitals, schools, etc.), because people HAVE to be there. But why should the government tell me what I can or can't do in my own bar??

well that's the joy of living in an overly liberal city. personally i think it is something the government should have power to dictate over, if they think that they deserve to control what substances we eat as well.

and on that note did you see they're wanting to put gps tags in sex offenders in FL?

A good point, Jim, but keep something in mind; allowing private businesses to allow smoking includes almost the entirety of any urban area, including it's restaraunts and bars and such. Too many businesses are private to begin with, thus nulling the proposal's purpose.

I live in Bloomington, with both of my parents, who both smoke. Personally, i doubt I'll smoke when i turn eighteen (but i'm not really sure). But most restaraunts had a no smoking section anyway, and since the smoking ban was put into effect, I've noticed that smoke actually effects me worse, personally, when I'm in an enclosed space, like a car or a part of the house, with my parents, just because it happens less. But that aside, there was almost always a place to go if you didn't want to be around smoke, unless you were in an outdoor environment, and people can still smoke there.
