Last I heard, Minimaids will never be made again.

As I recall, the issue surrounding minimaid availability was not production but rather lack of somebody willing to handle distribution and end-user support. If that were to be resolved, I suspect you might see them show up again.

Interesting... this smells distinctly of side hustle.

Man, I dunno, I think troubleshooting for people on Sows sounds like a lot of thankless work. If you're buying a minimaid you should be able to figure this shit out yourself. I am a God damn moron and I was able to set up a minimaid for DDR and DM without too much trouble by just following the install guide.

Isn't the whole purpose of a Minimaid to be an easier way of converting a DDR machine to SM?

Yes but a lot of private arcade owners (including me!) don't know what the eff they are doing half the time and they don't want to brick their 1,000+ lb cabinet that they just paid a good chunk of money for so they want their hand held throughout the installation process.

Well it's been over a month. Guess I'll need to start saving so I can buy a different machine.

We talked about this one on IRC I think:

I wonder where/who it's coming from. Home ownership in Indianapolis. I don't think it's Taqa, but outside of the regulars around here I'm not sure who would have owned one. Anybody have any idea?

It's a Korean cabinet. There were several of those floating around in the old days, mostly running 3rd VK2, but plenty probably got upgraded eventually. Most were owned/placed by Schaffer, but I have no idea what happened to them.

I see nothing that indicates that thing is coming from a home use environment. The auction just says that it's set to free play for home use, but the seller probably just did that.

I am debating buying it. Not sure though.

What the heck is this thing?
LumenAR is the simple, low-latency solution for owners of customized DDR machines looking to fully enable cabinet and pad light functionality.

When a machine is customized with either of the DDR/ITG emulators (Stepmania and OpenITG), control of the machine lights is lost, requiring a compatible lights control board to access them.

It looks like about 1/3 of a minimaid.

Looks like it does lights only. I'm not sure why latency really matters in that application. I don't see any optoisolators, though they may be tucked in behind the connectors and hidden in that picture. DDR doesn't generally seem to need the optos, though I understand why they are present. DrumMania often gets phantom triggers without them.

FYI, Minimaids are currently available for order. Expect them to ship in about a month.

That's why I said it looks like 1/3 of a minimaid...the other two thirds being: controls and AWESOME. :)
