Real talk though, can anyone explain why he wires this shit the way he does at about the 10:20 mark in this video?

I follow everything in the Youtube up until he starts wiring the breadboard. It seems like he's just arbitrarily putting wires in holes but I don't know shit about breadboards so I assume there's a method to the madness here.

each row is one large connection, so you can put an IC/chip in as he does, and use the other holes in each row to easily connect multiple wires to a pin on the chip, connect it to somewhere else, etc

then the top and bottom 2 rows that are labelled + and - are also each connected together, so you can use one pair of wires from your power supply to connect them to a power supply row, then have a bunch of available holes to tap off of

this is a good pic that shows how they're actually wired, so you can see when he inserts the chip/IC the way he does, he can then use those rows but higher up to connect to those chip pins
