To those who are gone...

Post by classic candy »

My grandpa just passed away after a long illness.. and so I thought it a fitting tribute to share my memories of him...

.. I remember when I was in second grade, we went out to Arizona, and he bought a Suburban, it was silver.. we drove all the way back, and passed through New Mexico, Texas, and all those other states... and I remember I was in the very back, playing with dolls..

.. You can post your memories of people who are gone here...

:( My grandpa also passed away, except a few years ago. I remember everytime going to there house, they had this ski practicer thing, like a row machine were you use your feet. I could never figure it out but i always got on there and tried. And I remember walking around there back yard....It was like a sanctuary. Statues, gardens. OMG And his basement. It was full of electrical stuff (he was an engineer) And I used to always make something differenteach time. I guess thats what got me into electronics and eventually computers. Ill miss you grandpa

I try not to remember what my grandma was like during her deaf and illness years..those were depressing times..

I remember those times where she would always ask if I wanted some candy or cookies..

Id watch my grandpa try and make her laugh by grabbing her up and dancing with her..she'd call him a dirty ol bastard and give him a kiss..

.I remember wanting to sleep in bed with her when I was little and she'd scratch my back while telling me a story to lull me to sleep.

" It'll be okay my wee hen...give granny a kiss darlin.."

I miss you grandma...

I remember when all my younger cousins and I would spend the night at Grandma's house and just tear hell around the place, moving the furniture around to build a fort and just be rambunctious little kids. Somehow she always had inifinite patience with us, and usually would help us build the fort. Then in the mornings, she would be able to create a fabulous meal out of seemingly nothing in her kitchen. She was a wonderful woman and will always be remembered as such. It's been almost a year since she left but I have felt her watching over me and being with me every day.

I haven't been around to post much, but now that I have time I found a post that would be appriopriate for this thread.

Lets remember Jason Rose, and the good times we all had playing DDR with him and what a great friend he was. It's only been a year since he died but it feels like forever.

We miss you Jason.

i remember spending every summer over at my grandparent's house during the weekdays when school was out. i was a wee lad then, still in grammar school of all things... my grandma would give me $10 a month for seemingly no reason.. my grandfather would give me valuable coins and sports cards, most of which i still have to this day...

my grandfather was diagnosed with throat cancer after smoking for years on end, he died in september of 1997 of pneumonia.

my grandmother had several strokes, was unable to walk, and finally succumbed to liver disease in the spring of 1998. i think loneliness had a lot to do with her will to live...
