lol...wow and I thought this thread was like dead. Hey, this was my first topic that I ever posted on Indy DDR forums. I haven't practiced RnP in a while...I've been playing a lot of home ITG lately...I've been doing pretty good actually.

Yeah, like I passed my first ITG 9 footer. With like an 81% It was Remember December. yeah yeah, I know this is a DDR topic, not an ITG.

Hmmm, DDR accomplishments? Well...I can pass Orion 78 civilization mix on Standard...it's like an 8. It's pretty tricky at parts. I highly suggest that if you ever play at the Union in Bloomington that you make the people behing the front counter turn the lights out so that there isn't a screen glare, cuz that kinda messed me up most of the time. Too hard to read the notes.

Um...my next goal? Mike suggests I try Be Lovin'. Advice? comments?

Be Lovin' is tough...that's one of the ones that I might fail if I'm tired. It's quite easy until around 3/4 through where there's this eighth stream and they throw in some jumps...that's where I always mess up. But other than that you should be able to do it. Oh, and for Healing Vision, since it's pretty much impossible to spin that fast, just bar-rape and quickstep (grr I've still never gotten better than a B on that...).

HVAM's spins are pretty doable, I haven't done them the way you're supposed to in a long time though.

Be Lovin' is actually quite easy if you don't have trouble with pretty much constant stream. The jumps are easy once you get them down, when I was learning Be Lovin', that was the "combo-breaker" but now it's not even the AAA breaker. It just takes a few sight reads, speed mods help too, but it is still doable in x1.
I really love CS:GO's 64 tick servers.

Impossible? I did it accidently the first time I ever played the song. HVAM isn't too difficult really, if you don't wanna spin just keep your rhythm and use one double-step during each of the runs (if needed).

Be lovin should be an easy pass if you don't lose your composure at the ending jumps. As long as you don't panic you should at least be able to pass it. After you learn the jump part it really becomes an easy AA.

MY suggestion (but what do I know? I suck at this crap) would be to develop one skill at a time. Maybe Drop out for a bit of speed training, or L'Amour et la Liberte or Tears for some technical training. Or maybe D2R or Burning Heat or Mikenko Rock if you wanna learn stupid off-sync garbage.

rofl speaking of off sync garbage...I tried bag on 4x on Stepmania...and I was like w.......t.........f

Yeah, also speaking of Stepmania, I almost passed So Deep with my fingers. Hell yeah. I think I know the beat of that song pretty good. I actually think that So Deep is passable once I get the rhythm down. I might use that one option on Stepmania...where it clicks to the rhythm. I dunno, I really don't think that So Deep is a difficult song, I guess the rhythm is what throws me off. I like gallops :D

Yeah, once you get the rythm down so deep is easy. Put a speed mod on it and it seems like cake. If you have Extreme 2 you can put Be Lovin in the training mode and do just the little jump sequence over and over again without playing the rest of the song, it helps alot.

I do So Deep on 2x. The majority of the song I can do on 1x, but the end always messes me up unless I'm on 2x (then with 2x=AA (yay!)).

Yeah I can probably do Be Lovin. Although, I would actually LOVE to pass Waka Laka first. That one is trickier than it seems on the exterior. And yeah, I think at the moment...So Deep is like my favorite DDR song...I've been listening to it a whole lot on my iPod.

Yeah, when I tried So Deep on Stepmania, I got through a good majority of the song, I think I failed near the end somewhere. I was pleased...I knew the rhythm for the most part, but it is kinda tricky. I do get confused with purple notes a lot (hahaha, solo talk).

Yeah, that's it. lol.

Waka Laka > Be Lovin. Waka Laka should be a 9, it's a little to hard to be an 8. You should really go for Be Lovin first, there's only one hard part (lolzor jump stream), while Waka Laka just tires the shit out of me what with the stepstepstepJUMPWHATNOWHAHADIE through the whole song.

..though Waka Laka is much more fun than Be Lovin once you get used to it. not to mention people find it more annoying than Be Lovin, so you get to have fun and irriate people at the same time. Yay!

ps i luv me some remember december. <3

Yeah, I've been doin some hardcore Stepmania...I tried So Deep in the arcade...and yeah, I def didn't have the rhythm down and not only that, but the song is SOOOO tiresome...I have to build up my stamina to pass that song...

Yeah, so I've just been trying to work out the kinks....unfortunately I'm not really all that good at Stepmania...but the assist tick is helpful...and the failing at the end part...but I've been messing around with my options and I think I have the beat down now....it's just a matter of hitting the right arrows now, lol.

Ok....on 3x Solo:
60% = B
70% = C
80% = C
90%=D
100% = Fail

I figure once I get the main pattern down, I can pass it finally on 100%

I really wish I could do this song on 2.5x because 2x is like a little too slow...and 3x is a little too fast...but nooooo stepmania has to be a freakin idiot and not give me the 2.5x option.

What exactly do you mean by "60% 70%"...etc? Like how far in the song? Or the speed. Cuz usually people put speed in 1x, 2x, etc but say "rate" after it. Otherwise it's all confuzzling. And yeah I hate Waka Laka with a vengeance...I think I passed it once with an A and then I'm like I'm never playing it again.

I've said it before, and I can't say it enough.

Keep playing whatever song you're working on until you finally get it. It takes time, but it's the best way.

I'm sure Mezzo can confirm this fact.*cough cough My Summer Love cough cough.* lol. :D

Quick addition. I used to play the same 3 or so songs before I finally tried out new stuff. Everyone used to scream at me"STOP PLAYING SONGS THAT YOU KNOW." without even realizing why I kept doing it. All the while, people would come up with theories and ideas on how to pass a song and it ticked me off because they used to fail the shit they tried to pass. They were still better than me, but I just did it raw. It's much better than coming up with a bunch of little thoughts and queries on how to pass 180 seconds worth of a song. It's called PRACTICE! The only real advice than anyone can give you is to just PRACTICE and keep PRACTICING until you get it. Screw the stepcharts. Screw the technilogial points of viev. PLAY THE SONG, until you finally get it right. That's what I did. That's what most do. You shouldn't try to rush it. PRACTICE. Period. Sorry if it sounds jerkish, but the truth IS the truth.

Edit: GOOD FUCKIN' LORD, MEZZO! Sorry! Didn't know I wasn't allowed to spit out a joke.....geez.
