I didn't realize that they've started naming raves.

Either way, I went to a couple in Vincennes last semester, and also one in January in Terre Haute, plus a big one near Evansville. Plus, I hear about the occational Rave going on around Indy, though I haven't acutally been to one here in person in a while.

Also, I'm sure a couple of them had names like "Midnight Rave at this place" but I never took any special note of what it was called.
gas this fucking thread please, grubb is useless and TRD is right. nobody fucking likes happy crapcore and no-name techno. THE WORLD DOES NOT REVOLVE AROUND DDR.

Perhaps The Real Deal's opinion of a rave just differs from that of the people who do like to rave around here. If they just wanna have a rave, fine. It doesn't have to be a huge world-altering event like the big name raves over seas.

these peoples' idea of a rave is a bunch of kids playing ddr and tossing glowsticks around. there's a difference between a "neon lights party" and a "rave". trust me.

I believe we were talking about a rave here. Let's talk about raves, shall we?

Trust me when I tell you that it's not deleted. It's currently in limbo pending discussion by the moderator/admin team at a later time.

yes actually they do name them. im friends with the bigger promoters of EDM events in Indiana. none of them consider their parties "raves." there's a difference between a rave and an event/party. rave = massive = a lot of people (~2000 - ~3000 people) in a very large venue i.e., a warehouse. i would seriously like to know about the last rave you've been to in indiana, using the terms i just described. I'd like to hear a little more info on this "rave" you went to in Terre Haute seeing as how I know all the DJs and anyone that throws an event in Terre Haute. just because you play CDs at a skating rink for middle school kids doesn't mean you know what's going on. you will not win this debate. i can promise you that.

Pfft, like you really know everything that happens in Terre Haute

It was just this Rave in the middle of nowhere in West Terre Haute. Some of my friends from St. Mary's drove me there. The DJ was one of the girls from there.

As for this debate, yeah, you probably know a lot more about crap going on in Terre Haute than I do, since it's apparently your mission in life or something to know everything going on there. But I didn't just "Imagine" these raves I went to, so whatever.

Either way besides, raves aren't really my thing. I just go to the ones my friends invite me to out of lack of anything better to do.

Also, I don't see what my profession has to do with my ability to be aware of my surroundings.

sorry but im calling bullshit. rave + WEST terre haute = yeah fucking right. sorry brody but i'm not buying it. how many people were there? just give me an estimated attendance. also, it's not my "mission in life" to know everything that's going on. spinning house and drum and bass just happens to be my number one hobby so i try to keep with the times on everything going on. well, locally at least.

I'd guess the attendence was about 35 or 40. Mostly St. Mary's girls and their boyfriends who were mostly guys from Rose-Hulman. But it doesn't matter since I apparently made up this rave just to prove some stupid point to some random guy on a website.

Also, spinning house and drum and bass just happens to be my hobby too.

Also, my name's not brody.

sorry i call everyone brody. kevin smith movies pwn me.

i wasn't saying you were making it up but 35 to 40 attendance is not a rave so i rest my case.

but anyways, have you played at any clubs or bars anywhere around here at all?

Not yet, but I'll be the DJ for the St. Mary-of-the-Woods formal coming up in April.

Mostly though, I just end up doing parties for my friends. It's kinda hard to get a job as a Techno DJ in Indianapolis. Most places in Broadripple only play Rap and Hip-Hop. I might beable to get a gig there if I play a bunch of house music and the like. My best chance for a gig in Indy is this new place called "Music Mill", though I'll have to save up money to rent the place out first, then ensure I draw a large enougn croud that I can break even.

Also, I might be able to get a gig though one of my friends at work at this place called "Caberet." (sp?) Though I don't know if I'd feel comfortable playing there. Number 1, it's a gay club and I'm not gay, and Number 2, I don't want to enforce the stereotype that Techno is only for gay clubs. =(

Hey, I'd come see you do a gig, but I'm kinda up here in the damn fort. I've been toying with the idea of getting into some techno myself, but mostly as a mix with my other musical projects. Not straight electronic, and not straight rock, but a mixture of the two.
On a side note, your cow-bell avatar dude is right in rhythm with the song I'm listening too....it's actually kinda creepy.
