Yep, I was supposed to leave work 10 minutes ago but I've been on a 40 minute phone call just to get some dude's IT policy changed for his Blackberry.

To put it in perspective, these are usually a 7-10 minute phone call max. I'm not going to lie I'm getting really ticked off. This is why new people need to shadow the vets so the customer isn't stuck on hold while the newbie googles how to do a very simple change.

It would be nice if MS gave me access to their BES servers. I would literally never have to call MS ever again if they did.

I have four tickets to see the Indianapolis Fever (WNBA Basketball for the uninitiated) in my company's boxed suite at Conseco Fieldhouse this Friday at 7pm if anyone is interested in going. There will be free food and beer / soda / water as well as free parking!

Let me know if you are interested.

So have you guys heard of Bing Cash Back? There are like 400 online retailers that are partnered with Bing and offer you 10-12% cash back on your online purchase after you wait 60 days. For example, I just bought a graphics card and I get an automatic $36 back in 60 days. It was actually a pretty great deal which is why I jumped on it, but it was:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... -_-Product

This card, retails for $359.
-$20 instant rebate
-$20 coupon code
-12% Bing Cash Back
-$20 mail in rebate

So I get it for around $250. Woo.

Argh, so karma would have me turn on my computer today and see that it can't get past "Verifying DMI Pool...." in the BIOS. Not sure what to do. Anybody have this before? google says I should just check connections, make sure hard drive boot order is right (I'm pretty sure it is...), maybe flash the BIOS (don't know how to do this). I wonder if reformatting will help. GRRR

Reformatting would definitely not help, it sounds like your shit is breaking before it even loads the operating system. Do you get any sort of error at the verifying DMI pool data screen?

Sounds like it's either the hard drive or the motherboard itself.

Do you have a windows install disk you can boot from?

If you already put the new video card in, the first thing you should do is take that back out and put your old card(s) back in to see if it will boot. It could be that the card is just DOA.

Another thing it could be (provided you've installed the new card): does your motherboard support PCIe x16 2.0? I know those 8800's are not 2.0 and the new card is, so it might just be that your motherboard can't even handle it and you'll need to upgrade. What kind of motherboard do you have?

That's a very valid point Joe. That begs the question though, if he can get picture for the boot up process, wouldn't that infer that his motherboard supports his card?

I haven't changed any parts, I just ordered the card last night and it won't get here til' tomorrow or Saturday. It just randomly stopped working (my computer automatically did Windows Updates last night I assume, as I found it on and stuck on the BIOS after I assume it restarted itself overnight). It might be a loose cable so when I get home I'm going to replug in the cables going from my motherboard to harddrive and their power cords and stuff.

I have a 780i mobo, which was pretty top of the line 2 years ago so I'm sure it supports PCI 2.0. I've never flashed or upgraded the BIOS before, don't know if that would help though. I do have my Windows 7 CD, Frisbez. but haven't tried putting it in yet.

Whoa whoa whoa, what could you, an unemployed-still-school-starts bum like you possibly be doing away from your computer on a fine summer day like this?

Riot you've changed.
