The internet has always had a strange fascination with the notion that all pretty/popular people in high school manage to screw up later in life and all bullied nerds become CEOs for Fortune 500 companies.
Do stories like this make people in similar situations feel better? Do nerds get off on the idea of karmic justice? Is the notion of an unfair world too much for the nerd psyche?

Are you talking about that dumb fucking (100% fake) photo that started floating around Facebook today?
Yeah it's totally about karmic justice. Everyone loves a story where someone who bullies the meek gets their comeuppance. I'm guessing that photo was made by a Reddittor who proceeded to cause a massive circle-jerk echo chamber after posting it.
Have you read the ugly duckling? It's the exact same story.

Please post the image. The Taiwanese kids are on Time-to-post-on-Facebook mode, so my wall is mostly anime drawings, photos of food, and comics.

Last year a bully threw a little boy down a well after school. Thr boy's mom posted athis message on facebook and asked people to forward it to 10 people. every time someone forwarded it, thd bully lost $5 and is now homeless. That little boy is the nenxlt Mark Zuckerberg. THIS ACTUALLY WORKS REPOST TO TWENNY OTHA PEEPS AND SAVE HIS LIFE AND RUIN THE BULLY!Fluffyumpkins wrote:The internet has always had a strange fascination with the notion that all pretty/popular people in high school manage to screw up later in life and all bullied nerds become CEOs for Fortune 500 companies.

Re: [Grubb's] Random Thoughts of the Day
People say that though the story wasn't true, it echos truth. How many awkward highschool nerds ended up being rich and successful, and how many ended up being awkward nerdy adults? I'd even go so far as to say the average popular kids in highschool that went to college probably ended up more successful than their average socially inept counterparts. Successful is, of course, subjective, but I think we'll use it in the same way the Facebook image describes it.Merk wrote:Are you talking about that dumb fucking (100% fake) photo that started floating around Facebook today?
