I cleaned out the screw heads (there was a lot of gunk in there!) and he merely used one of his power tools to unscrew the problem screws. It took probably all of 5 seconds!

This week: rain of sorrow

Why?

It's raining.
I am sorrowful that we are both so far behind on this. :(

Dicked around on my 2P side and I got my down arrow fixed but now my right arrow is being a mofo and I can't get all the God damn screws out! It's like some higher power doesn't want me to have nice things!

I played a bit of singles today but tomorrow I'll tuck into some doubs.

Just clean out the screwheads and hit them with a proper size driver. If necessary, drop a #3 bit in a ratchet handle. If that doesn't work, grab a cheater bar. You'll get torque that'll put my impact driver to shame. In fact, you'll probably have trouble keeping the thing from camming out.

If neither of the above apply, you are normal. Congratulations.

You see, I was using the handy-dandy #3 screwdriver I bought thanks to this thread and I had issues with the screwdriver camming out with just my meager hand strength

Are there any tips other than cleaning the screw head out to get a better grip on the screw?

If it's any consolation I didn't get any pad misses on my two doubles sets that I played yesterday so the problem could be with the right-most sensor on the 2P right arrow which I'll rarely trigger when playing doubles.

That's why I said "Oh, Phillips..." It's designed to cam out. Helpful, huh? :)

Put a bit in a ratchet head, lean on top of it to supply normal force to keep the screwdriver head engaged, and turn using the ratchet's handle. Ensuring the head is clean is imperative. If that doesn't do it, I can try with my impact gun again. It makes all this a little easier to coordinate, but you'll actually get more torque with a good hand tool.

I played a bunch tonight. It's been a long time. It was hard. I was sweaty and smelled bad afterward.

But I've got scores...and I'm posting them right away!

.59
22 great - 540

rainbow rainbow
32 great - 594

Dragon Blade
64 great, 7 good, 4 miss - 712
This was my 5th attempt. 1st felt about like I remember when I tried it weeks ago (hard). But it seemed to get more reasonable as I played it a few times. At 240 bpm, I thought it was plenty fast at x1, but bumping it up to x1.5 did improve my score. I guess I'm a speed whore now.

rain of sorrow
36 great, 4 good, 2 miss, 2 ng - 586
I'm sorry I picked this. This was at least my 5th attempt. I think there were some I didn't even bother recording because they were bad. This maybe wasn't as much of a stamina challenge as Dragon Blade, but the rhythms seemed pretty tricky--at least to me. And with all the freezes (64 of them!), I found myself getting tripped up in a few places.

This just leaves Gentle Stress and I will be all caught up. I didn't feel like changing out the system unit tonight, so I'll just save that for next session.

Merk, it's your turn to pick a new song. You're playing on a 573 now, right? Can we switch mixes? I could go for some 3rd. Let's play some Korean songs! :)

I updated the OP. Merk, are you expecting me to do your math all the time?

I can post shit via dance points in the OP but in my posts it's easier for me to post "12 greats, 6 greats, 18 greats + 1 miss, etc" because posting by dance points requires me to bust out my phone, calculate the total dance points and subtract accordingly and holy shit I am lazy.

Imma get on that Gentle Stress tonight and if I am feeling brave I'll try Rain Of Sorrow but your post makes me anxious :(

I do recall Ba Kwa (or however you spell it) having a pretty cool doubles chart. I'll see what I can do about getting a new mix installed after I get as caught up as possible on the 573. Since I fucked up and didn't get all the Supernova charts in before the Supernova in my house went away I'll have to put those charts on hiatus indefinitely.

Is there a list somewhere for the total steps on a doubles chart? DDR freak has one but it lists the "Max Combo" and I'm not sure if that counts jumps as 2 or not which would mess with my dance points calculation.

If you want to be lazy, just use Stay On Sync (the successor to DD:recall) to calc your DP score. It seems to calc by oni score (like we're doing) and not do the negatives for misses and whatnot.

Maybe rain of sorrow wasn't that bad. But X3 rated it a 12 while it rated Dragon Force an 11. When I saw the 12, I was like "oh shit." I may have psyched myself out. I did look at a video of the chart before I picked it and I didn't think it looked so bad. But I guess watching and actually playing are two different things.
